Evolution, which is a part of a materialist package, wants to destroy religion as it sees it as its main competitor for power over people. The previous examples were about fight for power within the ivory tower, the following section is about the power outside of the ivory tower.

Haviland wrote in a university textbook, “all religions fulfill numerous social and psychological needs—we know of no groups of people anywhere on the face of earth who, at any time over the past 100,000 years have been without religion” (4, p. 346). The fact that there is no group of people who have been without religion means that religion is the significant aspect of human culture. Apart from fulfilling numerous social and psychological needs religion, or rather the authority behind religion, is also a holder of power. A real power, not the Mickey Mouse power on a university campus. And that kind of power is very tempting. Just imagine your scientist as God. Silly argument you say. That’s because you haven’t met people with real ego. I’ m talking ego that goes from here to the moon and back to earth. I’m talking ego that is warehouse of infantile wishes, animal instincts, and feelings of envy. I’m talking your dear scientists that you idolize.
