Scots Pakistani cafe owner forced to wear bulletproof vest after getting death threats from extremists for selling booze
A PAKISTANI cafe boss yesterday claimed death threats from religious extremists had forced him to wear a bulletproof vest.
Jimshaed Sharif, 50, says he has become a target for fanatical Muslims because he plays music and serves alcohol.

I didn't think much of this story, until I noticed that this man is running a bar IN SCOTLAND , and yet is still getting death threats from Muslim extremists.
Who let those extremists into the British Isles?!
I have a problem with news stories like this. My problemis that any whacked out extremist who reads this story and decides to attack this cafe owner now knows to aim for the head. All this news story has done is to put the owners life into greater jepordy by both publicizing these threats and pointing out the fact that he's wearing a bullet-proof vest, putting him in greater danger just for a sensationalized story.
I don't understand much about these things, but can he not come to America or another country where he doesn't have to risk getting shot just by doing his job? Although I guess it's hard to abandon your country just because it's been taken over by assholes. I read a book once about a family that refused to leave their wartorn country because they loved how it once was and didn't want to abandon it. Is it like that sort of thing?
That Guy: Well, some of us (e.g. me) don't dare drink alcohol, not when we have a history of alcoholism on BOTH sides of the family. That isn't exactly germane to THIS situation, though.
I'm wondering if the berserkers in question think that because he's Pakistani, it's chimeric for him to break away from Islamic interdictions, location be condemned...
Now in the mid-east smoking hashish is a common cultural practice, but that's illegal in most of the west.
In the west you can get alcohol, but any form of marijuana is usually illegal, save for some countries like my own (but even then its only sort of half-heartedly legal.)
I got a good idea. Make it all legal! No more crime and related costs around any of it then.
Well except from those crazy muslim fundies of course. But for them I got a solution too. Lets ship 'em off to Mauritania! They can happily live in a medieval islamic society then!
I hope that he was playing Rock music or death metal or something. Because threatening someone's life because he was just plain playing music at all. Because it least it will almost make sense, in a "I still cannot f#$%ing believe these people are so petty, thin-skinned, selfish and vicious" kind of way.

Yes, Amanda. He should come to America where there's no danger of being shot by an islamic fundamentalist for pouring booze. The real danger is getting shot by a christian fundamentalist for performing abortions, and unless he's doing that in a back room, he should be safe. Unless, of course, he accidentally gets lost and finds himself in the wrong neighborhood wearing the wrong colors. Also, he could find himself in possession of one teeny tiny little joint (marijuana cigarette) and get sent to prison for a thousand years, but at least he won't die (unless he gets shanked in the showers for not being someone's bitch). Makes me want to move to America right now...

Isn't playing music and serving alcohol what pub owners usually do? I mean, if they are muslims, they don't have to go to pub and drink, as simple as that...
He should just tell these subhumans that if they don't like the way we do things in the UK, they should fuck off back to their beloved Islamic country.

b) Quran says killing of just one man is like killing all mankind.
So these people would rather kill ALL mankind than having just a few indulge in the merely forbidden? As a fellow Pakistani, all I can say is; hang in there Jimshaed, you are living in a civilized country, don't let these bullies push you around.
PS: On a side note, Pakistan, the country with a 98% Muslim population, has a number of local distilleries . As a matter of fact, I'm having a sip of a local vodka right now as I type this.
