A LEADING Muslim cleric has blamed the devastating drought, climate change and pollution on Australians' lack of faith in Allah.
Radical sheik Mohammed Omran told followers at his Brunswick mosque that out-of-control secular scientific values had caused environmental disaster.
"The fear of Allah is not there. So we have now a polluted earth, a polluted water, a wasteland," he told a meeting this year.
"What are the people now crying for? The prophet told you hundreds of years ago, 'Look after the water'."

You know, as far as Muslim fundies go, this guy is fairly tame. He didn't call for beheadings or public floggings or anything of that sort, just that pollution is caused by lack of faith in Allah(or something).
So the only thing that Allah is capable of is reducing water supply? Sure, Australia is in a drought, but it's not like this is all that uncommon here. All we have to do is wait it out and conserve water. No Allah necessary, dumbass.
What utter drivel. I'm tempted to lock all the fundies who use global warming as an excuse to pimp their favorite gods in a shack near the coast and have it be hit by a tsunami, a mudslide, a heat wave, a drought, and a flood. Maybe, just maybe, that'll teach them.
I guess Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Florida, Mississippi and New Orleans are the most Allah worshipping places on earth!
'Look after the water' isn't prophet worthy, it's common frickin' sense. Water is neccessary for survival. Someone had to TELL you that? Even your camels collect and save water. They don't need a sky fairy to tell them that.

Malaysia, Indonesia,
The majority of the population of Malayasia is muslim. A large percent of Indonesians are muslim.
alllllrighty, and with west australia's 'Change!? NO WAY!!!' approach, I can really see that catching on.
and that really, really scares me
I'm from australia, and its true that the drought has been awful, but thats just part of australias climate. it will break eventally. And anyone who has been to australia would hardly call it a "wasteland".
Try telling some aussie farmers that they should convert to islam in order to break the drought. they would probably kick you in the face.

Dryest nation on planet, a wasteland? Whoi would've thunk it!
Actually, the drought isn't as bad as the bushfires, floods and such in eastern to northern Australia, in fact, one would consider a lack of faith in Christianity is to blame seeing how Adelaide is only threatened by wussy droughts and 40 degree Celsius weather. Personally, i'd think not that either considering the wide belief systems adopted in beautiful multicultural Adelaide.
Oh yes, and of course in previous comments the obvious fact that the middle east, central to Islam is in a drought.
Why the he'll do Muslims want Australia to be Muslim anyway, where I live they are just as free to practice their religion as much as anybody else!
Sheik Omran is also on record as saying Osama Bin Ladin had nothing to do with 9/11 and bemoaning the sentences of several Muslim gang rapists in Sydney as being too harsh (The head of the gangs 55 year sentence was struck down on appeal to half that.)
If Allah existed he'd demand that Omran stop publically cheerleading for him, I mean he makes him look bad.
Confused?
