There have been a lot of justifications for continued discrimination against LGBT people.

Preserving marriage. Religious freedom. Preservation of traditional families.

But in a speech on the House floor this week, Congressman Louis Gohmert took things to the next level. Gohmert argued that we need to discriminate against LGBT people now or the future of humanity is in danger.

How? It’s really quite simple. At some point, a giant asteroid may start barreling toward earth, putting the future of humanity in doubt. We will then need to prepare a special spaceship and send a group of people to colonize Mars.

In case you think this is far-fetched, Gohmert notes this is not a dissimilar scenario from a recent Matt Damon flick, The Martian.

Gohmert postulates that we would only be able to send about 40 people. It’s unclear how he arrives at that number but it seems reasonable. If we can’t discriminate against LGBT people, Gohmert reminds us, all of the people on the special spaceship might end up being same-sex couples.

I refer you to a particular scene - in the ancient Terbinium reactor on Mars - in the original "Total Recall" film. This has done to you what happened to Richter on that lift: it's rendered you & your political credibility 'armless!

It was all Quaid could then do what is one of the 'Glory Kills' in id Software's "DOOM IV"; in the UAC Corporation facility on Mars: a la the 'Doom Marine', rip the arms off a 'Possessed' target and beat you to death with the wet ends. >:D

I guess that's what had made you sketchy about the details. But hopefully knocked some sense into you, re. Reality: that's why it's called 'Sci-Fi'; Matt Damon didn't actually go to Mars, you know.

He could always watch the anime series "Aria". Set on 'Aqua' - specifically the city of Neo-Venezia - the terraformed Mars.

But I fear that scenario would be too nice for him; how would he assuage his right-wing Paranoia that is hardwired into the DNA of he & all his ilk, if there was nobody around to point the judgemental finger at?!

Fail. Come on, at least do the minimum effort to tell us as to why you're so masochistic about continually coming back here and not what someone else said about Donald Fart. It's a sign of desperation when you're insecure about the threat this little corner of the internet poses to your invincible God-Emperor with hair of clay.

Because the 'Propaganda' here should surely be just like firing BBs against an M1 Abrams, would it not? If Wiggy getting to the White House is so inevitable, then you'd just sit back and wait for what is guaranteed to happen; what is said here will have absolutely no effect on Donald Fart, thus you would have no need to keep coming back here - to such a place that can't possibly pose such a lethal threat to him - and be secure in his victory later this year.

LGBT people don't want to end marriage, they want to be included in marriage.
Religious freedom is a personal matter; you have the right to worship as you see fit. Your right to worship ends where the next person's rights begin, though.

What is a "traditional family"?
The patriarch on a farm, with his wife, his children their spouses, and their children?
Kings marrying off their pre-teen children to kings in other countries?
People just moving together and forming a family, the old taking care of the young, then the young taking care of the old?

There have been LGBT people for millions of years. Sure, they have almost always been discriminated against, but if they are that dangerous, they would have caused our extinction long ago.

The Tunguska blast already happened.
You try to reduce the "far-fetchedness" with "there was a Matt Damon flick"? You failed, miserably, honey.

LGBT people include bisexuals and transgender people. They usually have no problem having sex with the opposite gender and thus continuing the existence of homo sapiens. Gay people can still force themselves to have sex with the other gender, as shown by lots of people (in the past, mostly) suddenly being informed that mom or dad is gay and wants to live with Aunt Edna or Uncle Ben instead.

Besides, LGBT people make up about 10 percent or so, the odds that all those forty people are LGBT is very, very small.
