Jesus Christ would have been, without a doubt, a conservative. Therefore, He would not vote Republican.

I've seen people on TOL say that Jesus was definitely liberal, a leftwinger if not a commie. I posted a reply in this thread that Jesus would vote in a closed booth for privacy, and not succumb to pressure to vote for Joe Candidate if you are right with God, and Lighthouse neg-repped me for that post.
No, the old testament God was the conservative Republican. Jesus was his rebellious, liberal, hippie son
Actually, when I read the gospels, I see a very liberal minded jesus. I see someone who would stand against everything conservatives hold sacred. Jesus would have been classified a liberal, which means most christians today would argue with him on why he's wrong, and why he's going to hell.
Julian, I think he's some guy that works down the street from me who washes cars. He's a bit ragged, and ecentric, but he seems to be ok.
I love how this guy 'knows' what Jesus would have done. He must have a direct line that none of the rest of us do. Rather high opinion of himself, hasn't he? Also, everyone 'knows' Jesus was a Popular People's Front man.
sheesh, Jesus wouldn't even be *American*
like last time, he'd eschew the world's only superpower and be born in a 3rd world territory
which was, incidently, *occupied* by that superpower
yes, you read it here first. Jesus wouldn't be Republican or Democrat. he'd be Iraqi
Actually, when you get right down to it, knowing what little I do about first-century Palestine, I think it safe to say that Jesus would have fallen into the category of "those bacon-eating Galilean hippie freaks" in Judea. If I understand the difference between Galilee and Judea in those days properly, the Galileans had much more going on -- a less homogenous population, more exposure to other religions and culture, and the distinct possibility of a nice Jewish kid with a love of pork (ever wonder where those demonically posessed pigs came from?). In that light, it seems like Jesus just had to be Galilean -- the things Jesus taught, of cutting through all the legalism and being excellent to each other, probably wouldn't have occured to most Judeans.
He'd be a 1968-75 style hippy for that matter. And not vote at all because authority is appointed by God.
Hippys aren't conservative even though many believe in conservation of nature
War-monglers and Christians vote Republican. They both get what they want. Subjegation and resources.
And you consider me a terrorist. Stop saying stupid things. And, fyi, Jesus wouldn't vote, at all. The majority is unrighteous, and therefore majority rule is unrighteous. And Jesus, as He is God, is righteous.
And while he may have been willing to reach out to those who needed it, He did so on a personal level. As we all should. He never thought the government should give hand outs.

Ah yes. Because the Repubican Party in the US consists solely of avowed Atheists , to say nothing of all it's members being card-carrying members of the Communist Party of America:

To say nothing of all being red flag-waving (and singing ), Che Guevara/Karl Marx 'I warned you that this would happen!' poster-waving/T-shirt-wearing, 'The Internationale'-singing left -wingers, amirite?
(Trust me, the only possible way to respond to this load of ignorant fundie wharrgarbl is to use mega-sarcasm!)
@Morrigan
"you mean the original hippy would have been a fascist????
I was sure that he was from the Judean People's Front"
...or was that the People's Front of Judea? [/"Monty Python's Life of Brian"] X3
@ Lighthouse
"He (Jesus) never thought the government should give hand outs."
Obviously you have never read what the prophets had to say about social justice and the exploitation of the common folk by the political elite. Are you going to tell us that Jesus thought the people should ignore the prophets? If so, why are their writings included in the Christian bible?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
