Dionys, you really should either learn more of Christianity, or get over your hatred of Bush. I say that because if you knew your Bible, you would know that there are many characters in the Bible who were responsible for death and war to a much greater magnitude than you give Bush credit.
Have you ever read about David? I mean other than what you learned in school about the stone and Goliath. David was a warrior and a king. He killed by the thousands and he was loved and blessed by God.
I don't expect you to understand what the Bible teaches. It isn't rocket science, but it does require a wiling mind and heart to understand that our's, as humans, is not to question God, but to honor him.

God of peace my ass.
Blood for the Blood God.
Skulls for the Skull Throne.
And for what it's worth, I doubt there ever was a King David. There certainly isn't any archaeological evidence of his kingdom.
"He killed by the thousands and he was loved and blessed by God."
And the fact that you would still want to worship such a god only makes your moral standing that much weaker.

You want to honor a (mythical) being that is a monster in every important respect -- indeed, the ultimate monster -- and joyously abdicate your human birthright as a free, thinking being in doing so, in favor of ignorance and slavery. You are a repellent and backward specimen of Homo sapiens sapiens , and I wish I could disown you from my species.
~David D.G.
So your King David was just like Pol Pot or Stalin etc.
For one victim, you'd call him a murderer. For three or four, a serial killer. For thousands, a hero for fundies.
Got it.

You mean it requires a weak and gullible mind and a strong stomach.
I have read the bible, both OT and NT. Some of the worst writing ever written, with more murder, adultery, incest, rape, theft, than any other work of fiction since!
Kinda gets bogged down in all those 'begats' too.
As for your 'willing mind', sorry, I am not a sheeple.

- So it's OK if I go out and kill a few thousand people. God will approve?

- I think you are saying here that it requires the suspension of disbelief in imposssible things and the rejection of logic and reason.
But if you point out that David was polygamous, the fundies suddenly change their tune to "Well, just because people like him did it, that doesn't make it right."
I think I'm going to be sick.
How sick do you have to be to take joy in such a monstrous God. Fuck, your god makes Kali look good.
Berny has it right. Blood for the Blood God, Skulls for the Skull Throne

Couldn't have put it better myself, David D.G. - almost word for word what I was thinking as I read it. Seems we think somewhat alike - either that or lunatics like TOD396 tend to induce similar thoughts in everybody.
My question is, how the fuck did g0d claim all credit for Creation? It is patently obvious that he's more enthusiastic about destroying.
That's the problem with this generic 'god' name. It could mean one of hundreds of gods, most of them better than Abraham's Curse.
It makes sense to say that g0d is actually Ares trying out his solo act.

Sorry, I prefer this imaginary warrior; he's much more honorable than this King David fellow.
Bush is pretty dishonorable too.
Yeah, submit dammit! That's the message isn't it? Don't question, don't disobey our most current interpetation, don't form your own opinion and just do as you're told. That's the fundie way!
Osiris wrote:
"Which God? Is it the same God who commanded "thou shalt not kill"? "
Now now, the Commandment is best translated as "Thou shalt not murder ."
Remember, executions and government-sanctioned genocides aren't murder!
Is that the same David that lusted after the wife of one of his officers? The same David that sent that officer to his death just so he could add said wife to his collection?
That David?
Fuck your morals. You can keep your god and his rules.
"My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?"
Even Jesus questioned.
Questions are really only helpful for people with intelligence. That probably explains why so many people are against it.
So, Bush just basically did a piss-poor job of honouring this god. Perhaps, if he nuked all of Iraq, he could be loved and blessed even more.
You're a sick fuck.
BErny:And for what it's worth, I doubt there ever was a King David. There certainly isn't any archaeological evidence of his kingdom.
Berny - there was - the bible just exaggerated a WHOLE lot as to which culture had the big cities and palaces and which was the kingdom of beggars eeking out a pitiful living in the hills! OK, they didn't exaggerate, they completely reversed it, but hey, it's their fairy tale.

Honour God - kill everyone you dislike.
"there are many characters in the Bible who were responsible for death and war to a much greater magnitude than you give Bush credit."
Like god, for example.
"but it does require a wiling mind and heart to understand that our's, as humans, is not to question God, but to honor him."
"Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do and die." - Tennyson [spelling?](I think)
This also shows the disturbing willingness of these people to excuse anything one of their own. "Sure, Bush is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands, but...he's CHRISTIAN."
And/or it's treasonous to question the president.
So because the Bible teaches that God is a blood-thirsty, genocidal, war-loving monster, we should excuse governor bush for illegally invading Iraq?
Riiiiiight!
Doesn't it warm your heart to know that there are people who will happily throw their support behind death and mayhem on a massive scale, simply because they've been told that it's an acceptable norm?
Taking your worldview from a book gives you a moral grounding in fuck all. It makes you totally amoral. I could tip-ex out passages from TOD396's bible during the night, replace them with whatever I wanted, and as long as he thought my corrections had always been there, he would gleefully go along with them.
Confused?
