Most Christians agree that the world, with time, degenerates. Morals have degenerated since 1611. Character has degenerated since 1611. Even our atmosphere has degenerated. Are we then to believe that education has gotten better? Only a worshiper of education could pretend to believe such a fairy tale. Education has degenerated along with the entire world system and could never produce a scholar equal to those of nearly four hundred years ago.

I seem to recall that an ancient Greek philosopher had similar compaints. In fact this idea that things are worse than they were in the "good ol' days" has been put forth by every single generation of Humans.

Hmm...in the "good ol' days" education was almost entirely for the benefit of royalty, the nobility, and the clergy. Today education is a right. In fact parents who fail to provide an education for their children (even home schooling) are subject to legal penalties. How can you possibly think that the state of education in 2008 is worse than it was in 1611? Teaching is a profession which is regulated by law and supported by countless millions who use esoteric disciplines to create new techniques of imparting knowledge.

Why don't you recognize the fact that education has been improved over the course of the last 400 years? Oh now I understand...you're a Doctor of Theology. That explains everything.

Ah yes, because everyone knows how good food production was going, after all. We had SUCH good technology that nobody ever starved or died of thirst in 1611! Things were also so equal, in that everybody got what they needed, no matter what their "class" was. Hardly anyone died from anything but old age, and it was always a surprise when ANYONE died from something that wasn't old age. We knew everything about how our planet looked, and what space was like. Heck, we could travel to mars in mere hours! Don't forget how children were able to have an actual childhood, and didn't have to work in dangerous conditions, women were allowed to marry whomever they wished, and were NEVER sold into slavery, prostitution, etc.

Yep, those were the good ol' days.

King James I was super gay, and, like you homophobic twats, was a repressed homo. He bought his lover suits of diamonds and they fucked a lot, all the while, James was making sodomy, for the first time in England, a capital offense.

And on that "morals" twatter, people still had sex. Lots of sex, with different people. There were still, obviously, gays, and also illegitimate children by straights. Hell, look around the royal family tree. Henry VIII's problem wasn't the lack of a son, it was the lack of a LEGITIMATE son.

1. Christians are a death cult. Most have given up on that. Cause the world degenerated when christians were in charge. The Dark Ages are due to christian book burnings of major libraries. When we lost the knowledge we failed to move forward and so were punished by fragmentation. It took nearly 600 years of improvements before we got back to the same level as Rome in the west... And even then it was not as good.

2. Morals. Our morals are the best they have ever been. Genocide is outlawed. We persecute countries and people for that. Child Slavery and Labour, also being fought. Women's rights are as equal as a man, so you can no longer beat women. We banned slavery and promote the equality of man. Our morals have come A LONG WAY.

3. Character? The 1900s to 2000s has had some of the greatest men who ever lived. By great we mean did more to improve mankind than your religion ever did. Cause your Jesus looks kind of bad when put alongside Gandhi... And I am unlikely to kill my brother to gain my parents house... Like some "important" people in the King James Bible's History...

4. Our atmosphere has actually improved. We stop people from dumping in our rivers. We protect our environment as opposed to the 1600s poor resource management.

5. Our education is not even in the same league. We have exceeded their technology and gone into magic. We would have been burnt as witches with what we can do. I am sure those leech merchants would think mordern medicine is witchcraft.

I will tell you what. I will break both your legs... Then I will use mordern medicine and the best of the 1600s medicine. Then tell me "whose" knowledge is weak. Oh we will set the legs separately. So you can see what cleanliness, antibiotics and anaesthetics have done for us...

Makes you wonder why they don't use the source material directly then.

For some strange reasons they not only believe that the KJV is the only bible translation that was inspired by god, but also that it is better than the originals.

Aside from this they also think that an english bible is the only one needed and no translations into other languages are necessary (their argument goes like: Old Testament = Only Hebrew, New Testament = Only Koine Greek -> This shows that God only inspires bible translations into one language)

Right, things are degenerating over the last 400 years, because obviously back then we had routine space travel to Saturn and our lowest expected life-spans were in the triple digits.

It's seriously sad to see someone who can look at both the technological achievements of modern times as well as social progress and view it as "degenerated".

Things must have been so much better back when doctors were only allowed to examine a woman where she wasn't covered by her cloths. /sarcasm
