Read his lips. Nazem Kadri is threatening to murder Mark Giordano. Certainly he was caught up in the heat of the moment and isn’t really going to kill him, but as a Muslim, his cultural frame of reference is interesting. When you grow up hearing “When you meet the unbelievers, strike the necks” (Qur’an 47:4) and that sort of thing, even if you’re not all that devout yourself, it’s just possible that it might be in the back of your mind

Funny how you didn't write a piece on Oleg Znarok making exactly the same threat to Rikard Grönborg in the World Championships in 2014. But then, you're not interested in stirring up hatred against Russians, especially when you like their leader so much.
Not any different from "suffer not a witch to live," "If a man lie with a man as with woman, they will be stoned to death, their blood be upon them" and other commands to kill in the bible.
Samuel 15:3
"Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys."
Numbers, 31:17
"Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man"
Deuteronomy 22:20-22
"But if this charge is true, that the girl was not found a virgin, 21then they shall bring out the girl to the doorway of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death because she has committed an act of folly in Israel by playing the harlot in her father's house; thus you shall purge the evil from among you. 22"If a man is found lying with a married woman, then both of them shall die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman; thus you shall purge the evil from Israel."
You were saying...?
I took the liberty to check that quote from the Quran, for proper context, since I'm certain Mr. Spencer did not. I don't speak or read Arabic, so I had to use an English translation, which I know many believe isn't, let's say, accurate, but it's what I had to work with. I also used a site that had the original text next to each passage, so presumably it's as close as they could get it, and if anyone who can read the original text wants to verify, I'd be happy to provide a link.
Anyway, the passage he's referring to is specifically about those who led Muslims away from Allah, and was a call for Muslims to defeat these people in battle as a test of their faith to Him.
This is not outlandish in the slightest in comparison to Biblical texts, some of which others have posted, and even less so when you consider that Muslims were fighting non-Abrahamic tribes for many years after Islams inception. This aggressiveness towards those who would be converting members of your faith away from you during wartime shouldn't come as a surprise.
In closing, Robert Spencer is an anti-Islamic sack of shit and this quote has nothing to do with a hockey player being pissed at another hockey player.
I'm not sure, but I think...
...Rober Spencer has some kind of hidden agenda.
...Rober Spencer has a thing for Mark Giordano.
See how that kind of smear can work without all those words?
Certainly ISIL have been following that text in the Quran lately. Most Muslims don't of course.
@Swede
Yes, we can compare it to Old Testament violence.
Wow! Fundies meet the NHL! Never thought I'd see the day!
But obviously, this idiot takes things TOO literal.

“I almost wish that there would be, like, a simultaneous telecast, and all Americans would be forcedforced at gunpoint no lessto listen to every David Barton message, and I think our country would be better for it. I wish it’d happen.”

Deuteronomy 17.
The prosecution rests.

Doesn't feel nice to be stereotyped, does it?
That is why we bring up the Crusades. It's called a taste of your own medicine.
@1915124
Not only are you completely missing the point, you're missing the point of an argument that nobody has made yet . Or do you think that all arguments about Islam are interchangeable, the same way that people like you think all Muslims are?
The conversation thus far has gone something like this:
"The Qu'ran contains violent passages, therefore all Muslims are violent!"
"The Bible also contains violent passages. Does that mean all Christians are violent?"
How exactly did you get "The Crusades justify terrorism" out of that ?
@#1915124
"We're all immortal"

And you are illiterate .
But that's what all right-wingers & fundie Christains are, No Exceptions: Inferior Subhumans. Those quoted in this site and in the pic above prove that fact.
Stereotypes. Fun to use, especially against others. Particularly when applied with broad brushes. Not so much when the same is used against you .
Remember, there's an alternative to being inferior subhumans: Being educated, thus intellectual, therefore not ignorant, ergo superior .
Otherwise, why isn't the world exactly as the above inbred redneck retards would wish it? You tell me, Mr. Can't Tell The Difference Between 'Immortal' And 'Immoral '.
That's the difference between the inferior right-wing, and those who aren't: those who are superior .
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
