Why do the non-religious feel the need to degrade and put down the religious? Could it be that deep down you feel that you are missing out on something wonderful and you are jealous of those that have it thereby producing a need to attack the very thing that you crave?

No, we just need to keep you idiots in check so you don't elect morons like Sarah Palin, overthrow the first amendment (not to mention a bunch of others), and don't turn from sort of harmless fundies into Taliban-like fundies.
No, I'm not deliberately trying to degrade you or your religion. And I don't feel a big empty in my soul that only Jesus can fill.
However, since you seem to want to tell me how to live my life, whom to love, and how many kids I should be cranking out, then my harsh responses probably do seem like I'm bashing your comments. If so, boo-fucking-hoo.
Close that account immediately . Sam Vimes is a billion times better than every fundie on the planet put together.
And what are you doing reading fantasy anyway, won't it cause demons to leap out of the book into your soul and force you to be gay, or something?
nope, been there, done that, it wasn't all that
Laughing at people is a form of peer pressure, not always helpful or useful, employed by religious and non-religious.
If, on the other hand, you think an attack is a stated and well reasoned argument counter to your beliefs or opinions, you really should stop complaining and try learning something.
Why do the (religious, anti-homosexuals, anti-abortionists) feel the need to degrade and put down the (non-religious, pro-homosexuals, pro-abortionists)? Could it be that deep down you feel that you are missing out on something wonderful and you are jealous of those that have it thereby producing a need to attack the very thing that you crave?
-Fixed-
"Could it be that deep down you feel that you are missing out on something"
Not in the slightest. Maybe we're just tired of being made out to be depraved freaks? Besides, define "put down and degrade". Is it make fun of individual people, or is it comment on specific beliefs?
"Why do the non-religious feel the need to degrade and put down the religious?"
Oh, trust me, you folks do that just fine on your own.
Why do the non-religious feel the need to degrade and put down the religious?
They don't. They put down holier-than-thou, judgmental fundamentalists who think it their religious duty to shove their opinions in everyone else's face. As long as people are handing out Chick Tracts insulting the beliefs of anyone who isn't a fundamentalist Baptist like Chick, they're going to get a reaction. You can shut up and be loved, or get in peoples' faces with your religion and be told to kiss my ass. You get one or the other - take your pick.
We're not jealous of you. Truth is, we're afraid of you. Afraid of the clout you proudly use to destroy anyone's life you wish. All based on lies and delusions.
I don't really care what anyone personally believes. Find hope and beauty and inspiration anywhere you can, if the natural world somehow isn't good enough for you. Have fun with that.
But that power to destroy how others live, that self-righteous, manipulating, so-called "moral authority", ABSOLUTELY NEEDS to be degraded.
What's to be jealous of? Anyone can join any religion anytime they want, at least in most democratic nations. If I crave religion there are at least 100 different churches, 30 synagogues, 15 mosques, several pagan societies and a Buddhist temple all within a 15 mile radius of me, and all open to the public.
And having gone to church almost every Sunday for the first 25 years of my life, I can tell you that all I'm missing out on is being bored off my ass for an hour every week.
No, not at all. I try not to put down other religions(although sometimes it's hard because you fundies do say the darnest things) because my family is devout Roman Catholic and I'm quite fond of them, as well as many of my friends are practicing Xtians and Jews. I want them to be respectful of me, so I try to be respectful of them.
As long as they don't push their beliefs on me, I don't push mine on them.
"Why do the non-religious feel the need to degrade and put down the religious?"
Because I detest liars.
"Could it be that deep down you feel that you are missing out on something wonderful and you are jealous of those that have it thereby producing a need to attack the very thing that you crave?"
No. I do not crave irrationality. Neither do I want to lose my ability to reason and to experience the true nature of reality.
Because, as someone else mentioned, you lot = Borg without the cube-shaped ships, and just as much laser-beam focus on destroying any semblance of individuality.
The difference is that we can't summon willing members of the Federation to help us fight you.
Hey, stop using that name!
Why would you take the name of a character from a series of books written by an atheist?
You do realize that those books poke fun at religion and the religious sometimes, don't you?
I don't understand you.
Treat others as you want to be treated.
If you keep your religion and your views to yourself, then I'll keep my agnosticism and my views to myself. End of story.
Kent Hovind.
Say no more!
I have no issue with the religious. It's the arrogant zealots who decide they must force their beliefs on the entire world, and screech about us immoral lowlifes who are barely worthy to tie your...I mean God's...shoes.
Now...why do feel the need to attack and degrade homosexuals? Hmmmmmmmm?
"Why do the non-religious feel the need to degrade and put down the religious?"
Because you fundies, with your 'beliefs', dogma & 'morals', interfere with the lives of others who don't want anything to do with such. And you have no right to impose your way of thinking on anyone else.
"Could it be that deep down you feel that you are missing out on something wonderful and you are jealous of those that have it"
No. Next question.
"thereby producing a need to attack the very thing that you crave?"
If you fundies kept your beliefs to yourselves, then nobody would have reason to 'attack' you.
Quakers. Unitarian Universalists. Y'get the picture?
I don't give a rats about your religion, or your beliefs. I'm not missing out on anything, nor am I craving it, but you feel the need to degrade and judge those who don't kneel/pray/worship as you do.
As an Agnostic, I get offended by anyone claiming they know or have the absolute truth regarding whether or not God exists.
And in defense of Atheists, I see far more venom and violence spewed online and in real life from Christian and Muslim Fundamentalists than from Atheists.
In the States, it's the Christstain fundies trying to impose their own religious belifs on the country, not adherants of other religions and Atheists,
Answer why religious people do the same, not just with atheist, but with people of other religions, and we MAY find the answer.
SAMVIMES:
Why do the non-religious feel the need to degrade and put down the religious?
SHOCKME:
oh so... before we athiests, agnostics, buddhists, and any OTHER religion besides yours were constantly being CALLED A RELIGION. Even the EVOLUTIONISTS. But... now for sake of YOUR arguement to make us feel guilty over the way we mock SOME of you and your REDICULOUS ungrounded ideas/beliefs/comments... we ARE NON RELIGIOUS. Do you see how that works everyone? CLASSIC.

SHOCKME:
I dont think they would let someone like me in their church and Christ like holy family LDM... after all... Im agnostic/wiccan (complicated, I know lol) and a BISEXUAL female. They would be too afraid I would hit on their wives and corrupt their daughters and teach them my wicked witchy/perverted ways. Look upon me with disgust.. and get ready with those pebbles they are so desperate to hit everyone with.... TRIPLE SIGH. THE DARK AGES ARE OVER. MOVE ON! NEXT, PLZ!
Why do right-wing Fundamental ist Christians feel the need to degrade and put down generally anyone not exactly like them? Could it be that deep down you feel that you are missing out on something wonderful:

And you are jealous of those that have it (in this case: a life ), thereby producing a need to attack the very thing you crave?
Quakers. Unitarian Universalists. Amish/Mennonites. Quiet. Humble. Reserved. Keep themselves - and their beliefs - to themselves. Never proseltyse. Certainly never insinuate themselves into the political system, so as to impose their own 'morality' on everyone else. Don't bother anyone, they're not bothered by anyone. And above all, hyper -tolerant.
You do the maths, Sammy-boy.
They only mock anti-freedom idiots like you. Yep, I said it, anti-freedom. Anyone who doesn't believe in your version of god, or has no belief at all, you see as subhuman and a target for bullying and even killing. You're the last type of people anyone would need to have in power, much less lead them in a line dance.
Could this be why the religious feel the need to degrade and put down homosexuals? Could it be, Sam, that deep down you feel that you are missing out on having a thick, hot cock shoved up your ass and you are jealous of those that have it thereby producing a need to attack the very thing you crave?
“Why do the non-religious feel the need to degrade and put down the religious?”
Not all of them. Just those that would make me live by their superstition. i can’t buy alcohol on days your god thinks are his. I couldn’t go to the stores on days your god felt needy. All the Blue Laws, your superstition limiting my actions to preserve your faith.
And my first boat served fish on fridays for the same damned reason.
“Could it be that deep down you feel that you are missing out on something wonderful”
No. I think you’re burdened and terrified to examine it rationally.
“and you are jealous of those that have it”
I’ve had it. Losing it was a great leap forward.
“thereby producing a need to attack the very thing that you crave?”
Ha. And again, Ha. It is to laugh. Tell yourself whatever you need to to ‘win’ the argument, but no.
Confused?
