Sure, there was a fantasy TV show boom in the late nineties (Buffy, Angel, Charmed, Sabrina, Hercules, Xena, etc.), but all of those shows have ended aside from reruns. And how do you explain the plethora of crime-related shows like Criminal Minds, NCIS, Law and Order and their ilk?

Not all gay men are effeminate, not all straight men are masculine, not all gay women are masculine, and not all straight women are effeminate. The world is a little more complex than this simplistic portrayal of yours.

I know a couple of gay men but none of them are effeminate. MRA's are more effeminate than the average gay man, I'd say.
If you think about it, the whole 'gay men are feminine, lesbians are masculine' thing makes no sense. The logic behind it is that somebody who is attracted to masculinity must be feminine, and vice versa, but even if that were true, it implies that there must be an equal number of masculine gay men and feminine lesbians for the other ones to be attracted to. Of course, most people who say this kind of thing likely haven't thought about it beyond 'I saw it on TV, it must be true,' so...

There's some weird subtext here about how this person must think that men should abuse women. If masculine women 'beat up' a man, that makes him effeminate, because the masculine is supposed to 'beat up' the effeminate. If we take this and apply it to his traditional worldview, that means that he thinks that men should 'beat up' women.
