Christianity is a sane, reasonable faith.
"I am not mad, most noble Festus, but speak the words of truth and reason." Acts 26:25
Many people suspect that putting their faith in Christ involves shutting down their brain and making a blind, emotional leap of faith in denial of everything that their rational mind would have told them had they not chosen to turn it off. Not so.
The Christian faith is based on truth. God exists. Christianity is based on actual historical facts. It is reasonable and true. It can stand the scrutiny of rational minds and bring even scholars and scientists to their knees.

Okay, let's say that you prove that a powerful being that calls itself God exists... guess what, all you've done is proven that a powerful being that calls itself God exists. You haven't proven that it's created the universe, let alone Earth, let alone humans. You haven't proven that it didn't just make up a bunch of stories for propaganda reasons, or co-opted a bunch of pre-existing myths and claimed to be responsible for what happened in them, just because it gets off on people stroking its ego.
Just something to think about, Ed.

So close and yet so far.
"The Christian faith is based on truth."
No, it's based on myths and fantastical claims whose only evidence is found within christian writings.
"God exists."
Please specify which god.
"Christianity is based on actual historical facts. It is reasonable and true."
While I acknowledge that there was probably a real person around whom the Jesus myth was woven, this in no way vindicates the claims about any kind of supernatural connection.
"It can stand the scrutiny of rational minds and bring even scholars and scientists to their knees."
Again, not really. It has been taken apart many times, but believers continue to engage in mental gymnastics to hold onto their myths.
Oh, wait, you're serious.
Let me laugh even harder!
"Christianity is a sane, reasonable faith. "
My fellow Pagans as well as some atheists, and other non Christians want several words with you

There is a reason for that. Think about why
" Not so. "
Reality disagrees

Historically it was far from reasonable and rather violent and intolerant. It still carries the attitude and if people weren't restricted I doubt Christians and Christianity would be distinguishable from Islam. In fact many times it seems that it is hard to tell them apart. The historical facts Christianity is based on is slaughtering Pagans and pogroms and the like. And once again reality disagrees wit you
Moderate Christians are fairly reasonable, yes. Fundamentalist Christians, not so much...
Many people see that putting too much faith in Christ involves shutting down the brain and making a blind, emotional leap of faith in denial of everything that their rational mind would have told them, had they not shut off their brains.
Aaaaaand, there you leapt, honey. Christianity is based on myths, fairy tales and the holy book of Judaism.
If scholars and scientists are brought to their knees, it's in frustration with numb-skulled fundies like you.
A number of your fellow Christians would strongly disagree. Heck, we archived many f them on this site.
And while you say that, I bet that you end up advocating for the same garbage that the others do; a refusal to learn of any other side's position, and instead letting your pastor define their faith and their worldview.
Though if you don't then awesome.

*Ed Strauss demonstrates brain shutdown and blind emotional faith leaping.*
Again:
ACTUAL Scholars, of the Bible and history SAY NO.
Myth, or to be polite, Parables.
NOT FACTS.
NOT HISTORY.
NOT SUPPORTED.
So of course, those last two sentences are the usual repeated unfounded assertions directed at the flock.
Claims that following Christianity isn't about shutting down your brain and making a blind leap of faith, then makes a mindless, blind leap of faith by asserting without evidence or thought that everything in Christianity is absolutely true.
"Christianity is a sane, reasonable faith."
I'm doomed to eternal torment because a rib-woman was convinced to eat a magic apple by a talking snake, which she couldn't have understood was wrong until after she ate it. However, there's a loophole that lets me get out of being punished for something I didn't do. That loophole is that the creator of the universe sent himself, except not himself, it was his son, who is him, to be sacrificed for a couple of days until he came back to life (which kind of makes it not a sacrifice), so that he could get around the rule that he made, because he can't unmake the rule, except he can change the rules to get around the rule because he controls everything.
What the fuck is so sane or reasonable about that?!?
others have said it here already, but "reasonable faith" is an oxymoron. if there's reasonable cause to believe a thing, then you don't need to take it on faith.
and abrahamic religion as we know it today can basically never be any more "sane" than having invisible friends into adulthood ever is. how sane that is, precisely, you'd have to poll a couple dozen psychologists about; i say it's bugfuck nuts, but i'm the rude offensive sort of atheist.
Jonathan Edwards.
Your entire argument has been brought to it's knees.
