It's been a while since I read the damn thing, but didn't the Roman authorities kill Jesus in order to placate the local Jewish mob, who were understandably pretty hostile to him themselves? Anyway, if the Romans killed him and not the Jews, doesn't that mean he failed to fulfill the prophesy of the messiah being rejected and killed by his own people?
Soneone who doesn't realise that the Gospels were deliberately slanted to appeal to Greeks and Romans at the expense of the truth. It was Romans who killed Jesus - assuming he existed. Jewish punishment was stoning. Roman punishment was the cross. How inconvenient it would be, if you want to make Roman converts, or not offend the Roman occupying power, or challenge the might of the empire, to say that Romans executed as a criminal the god that you want them to accept.

PROTIP: Without those 'Christ-killing Jews', you'd have no Christianity (and remember: Jesus was a Jew too: was circumcised, followed Kosher/Talmudic laws, underwent the Bar Mitzvah, and so on). And anyway, by saying so, aren't you defying the prophecies (specifically this one) in Scripture? (and as pointed out by Osiris & others here, he was arrested, tried & ultimately crucified by the ROMANS). You're supposed to accept & obey EVERYTHING in the Bible - every word, every letter. If you'd READ your Bible & understood it, the whole point of him being born, living as a man, doing good deeds and spreading the Gospel, then being sacrificed thusly (and the whole motive behind his crucifixion)& his resurrection is the whole foundation of your whole faith! First show me some proof the this Jesus fellow even existed and was who you claim he was, and then we can go about debating who was responsible for his death. You should be happy with whoever killed him anyway, seeing as how your supposed "salvation" is dependant on his murder.
