God wants you to choose Him. (That means everyone from Mother Theresa to (serial killer) Peter Sutcliffe. He has no favourites.)
But if the pathway to Him was paradise, He would hardly be a choice.
The pathway to God is a 100 mile vale of deep shit with broken glass at the bottom, that you have to walk barefoot. That's how God is a Choice. If you think that all the disasters, murders and brutality in the world are a sign that there is no God, you are very much mistaken.

I'm very tired right now, and not sure Im reading this correctly. But Here is my understanding thus far.
"My God is an asshole who forces you to suffer all through life, making you worship him and hoping, hoping that in the end it was all worth it and getting a pass into eternal paradise. Otherwise, you get to suffer for all eternity 'cause you weren't good enough"
Is that correct?
The problem with that is that everyone endures the hardships of life whether they believe in God or not. The 100 mile vale of whatever is something that no one has a choice in going through.
In the end of it all, the "choice" is still "Kiss my ass or be tortured for eternity", which isn't much of a choice.
"Oh, thanks a lot for the great choices you gave us!"
"Death, or slavery to a devil."
"... Slave works for me!"

I must admit I've been leaning that way.
so, this great big sky daddy wants me to choose him as my savior, but dose it with a 2by4 upside my face. Hmmm, dosn't seem like a choice I want to make
Does God want us all to be Job?
From Charles Bradlaugh (1833-1891) from www.infidels.org
"And he lost all without repining -- sons, daughters, oxen, asses, camels and sheep, all destryoed, and yet Job sinned not. Some divines have urged that we here get a beautiful picture of patience and contentment under wrong and misfortune. But I reply tht it is not good to submit patiently to wrong, or to rest contented under misfortune. I urge that it is manlier far to resist wrong, nobler far to wage war against wrong, better far to carefully investigate the causes of wrong and misfortune with a view to their removal. Contentment under wrong is a crime, voluntary submission under oppression is not the virture some would have it be."

And after this you must sit in a tank of scorpians for 20 minutes. If you succeed you win 1 million dowa!

You are quite right, but not in the way you thought.
So...he wants people to come to him...makes the road as difficult as he can, and then, if people take the "Oh fuck it" route, he tortures them for eternity. No...sorry...ands you over to his hitma-erm, I mean "sworn enemy" so he doesn't have to dirty his hands. Such a class act.
I would really like to see even one of these self-proclaimed christian martyrs, do anything even remotely as inconvenient as the example above. Mainly, I have the impression that they are fat, pallid, selfish creatures whose main obstacle in life seems to be that someone gay wants to be married. And of course there's the utterly life-threathening issue of McDonalds and it's 'Gay Agenda'. I can only offer my deepest sympathies to those poor Christians who are forced to drive all the way to a Burger King from now on.
This is oddly legible, and the argument obviously works against religion, not for it.
...Does nobody suspect that this is even the slightest bit sarcastic?
"The pathway to God is a 100 mile vale of deep shit with broken glass at the bottom, that you have to walk barefoot. That's how God is a Choice."
How is that a choice? If God personally insures that there is little to no proof of his existence, and also makes sure that the path required for him to accept people (and for people to accept him) will make them absolutely miserable, he is effectively preventing any choice from occurring at all! The only way it could be a choice would be if there was equal consequences. Otherwise, we are driven to take a given path, which, in this case, is away from your maschochistic catwalk you call a "pathway to God".
...yes, and when you get there, god's all like "Fuck, dude, take a shower or something. I mean, damn, you just walked through shit."
"The pathway to God is a 100 mile vale of deep shit with broken glass at the bottom, that you have to walk barefoot."
That's a bumper sticker slogan if I ever saw one.
"But if the pathway to Him was paradise, He would hardly be a choice. "
Hm.. follow the easy, wonderful, paradise-like path to heaven and God's love, or follow the hard, painful, disaster-filled road of misery to eternal torment and Satan's hoof in your ass.
How would that "hardly be a choice?"
By your logic, the choice is: follow the "100 mile vale of deep shit with broken glass at the bottom, that you have to walk barefoot" to get to heaven, or follow the "100 mile vale of deep shit with broken glass at the bottom, that you have to walk barefoot" to get to hell.
Because obviously a God that knows everything, gives us free will, then complains about our choices, piles broken glass against his believers, would be the kind of God who would enforce evil.
Thats strange, Ive always seen it as the opposite..being a Christian deserves you instant respect for your beliefs, instant recognition of being a moral man, instant benefit of the doubt for whatever you say, instant backup from the other 90% christian citizens everytime you feel persecuted (usually because someone is trying to stop you from forcing your beliefs onto them), 90% of the house of reps, senate..100% of the supreme court, and 100% of the white house.
P.S. - Try telling your friends for just one week that you are an atheist and see how fast that support system falls out from under you.. you may even loose your job in a way that you know they fired you for being an atheist, but they found some other silly thing to get you on, like what has been done to me several times.
Confused?
