Now days you have Government handing out money, building a nation that is dependent on Welfare. Reagan stood against it from day one but we are still fighting it. It is straight from the pages of Communist Manifesto. Why should we as citizens be against this sort of thinking. Shouldn’t we as christian people stop poverty, social injustice, and class wars? In one word, NO.

I'm very marxist/communist when it comes to economic policy, but I think state welfare is a crock of shit too. If there are jobs, then people should have to work unless they have amassed a personal fortune and can sustain themselves without the state. However, welfare is just a very little part of poverty, social injustice and class wars. What kind of Christian doesn't try to stop social injustice when compassion, love and justice is supposed to be what Christianity is all about?

Jesus fucking wept!
And you call yourself a Christian why?
Ronald Reagan was the most fucking worthless and awful president the US ever had. I was sadder when Saddam Hussein was executed than when Reagan died. I fucking hate that man more than words can express.
I feel the same about any miserable twit who has a problem with welfare for those struggling to get by despite their best efforts. I have seen too many family members screwed by circumstances beyond their control, only to receive little to no help from unfeeling wankers. We need a more effective welfare system to stop social injustice and depravation, and anyone who actually says Christians - or any other group - should not stop poverty clearly has not struggled for a single day in their life, knows nothing of what it means to live below the poverty line, and lacks any sense of empathy or compassion. You barely qualify as a human being in my opinion. Fuck you. Just fuck you. Get off the planet. Now.
And stop Jesus surely, you know, feed the hungry, feed the poor, visit the prisoners, take care of foreigners...............
anevilmeme I'm libertarian too. I'm a little curious why you support taxation (theft)? Not having your money stolen is not the same as getting a subsidy. It would make more sense to extend non-taxation further than to impose it where it isn't already. As a libertarian that is. (Completely agreed on corporation subsidies though.)
I don't know what the poster is thinking. I hope he expressed himself wrong. It's one thing to say Christians shouldn't stop poverty with *other people's money* taken by force (theft) but it's another to say Christians shouldn't help personally, because they should, and historically, they have.
The problem with saying the "government" should do something, Oyvind, is that the government is not a person, it is an entity that produces nothing and has nothing except that which it takes by force from the people under it. Constitutionally the federal government has absolutely no right to "take care of" the poor with the money it takes. (Article X) Individually the states can do so if that's what they want, but the federal government is prohibited (not that there's anything we can do now to stop the government's unconstitutional activities across the board.)
"Now days you have Government handing out money,..."
Yes, and its the military and the stinking-rich bank executives who are benefiting the most.
"Reagan stood against it from day one..."
Reagan's deregulation of the Savings and Loan market led to the biggest theft in human history. To put it gently, Reagan was not very wise regarding economic policy.
"Shouldn’t we as christian people stop poverty, social injustice, and class wars? In one word, NO."
Jesus disagrees with you (see the Gospel of Matthew).
Gee, doesn't the bible say to give all your money to the poor? And aren't you fundtards always complaining that the government should be based on good ol' fashioned (and boy is it old-fashioned) biblical morality?
So why the hell are you complaining when they actually do something that's in the bible?
Several commentators who say that the government does not have the RIGHT to support the weakest and more vunerable members of society are completely correct.
The government does, however, have the RESPONSIBILITY to support the weakest and more vunerable members of society, as the ultimate representative of that society.
Every year we hear more and more about this FICTICIOUS Ronald Reagan. I haven't heard one actual fact about him for at least a decade. He was a puppet of big business, that's all, the facts bear it out once you remove the fairy tale propaganda that's been built up since he died.
There's actually Americans that think the Berlin wall came down because Reagan demanded it, Reagan made that demand after open gate policy began and the Russian goverment had announced such intentions. Everything the Republicans say about Reagan is flat-out bullshit.
In Canada we have the legend of P. E. Trudeau, just as much bullshit but at least Trudeau wasn't a puppet.
Fucking libertarians... the most selfish pricks of all. Let's see you stand strong on your "no welfare" policies when you're the one who needs help. But that won't happen, since you're too strong to ever be vulnerable, right?... Right?
Confused?
