Okay, if dominionism means spreading morality and Christ's Teachings I fess up.... I'm all for Dominionism. We are supposed to have freedom of religion and not freedom from religion as most Lefties ascribe to and have imposed on the public in our culture.

Are there going to be any atheists or secularists and liberals left in Congress if Perry or Bachmann should happen to win the presidency? According to the Constitution the people have a right to elect their representatives so this over hyped article on "dominionism" is a total exaggeration of their choosing to have Christian people assist them in the WH. Should Obama have all commies/liberals and sexual perverts like Kevin Jennings assisting him? Is Obama and his cronies committing the ultimate commie dominionism over the people now? Oh yeah.

But it's perfectly alright for you to impose your religion on others? And given the blatant unconstitutionality of Dominionism, I would imagine (hope...?) that being a Dominionist would not be something one would willingly admit about himself without expecting a significant backlash.

Whomever is a voting member of Congress is there because the people whom they represent voted them there. If some people don't want you nutty Dominionists voting on laws on their behalf, then tough shit. That's democracy for you.

Well this is interesting. Where in Christ's teachings does it mention to stone the sinner to death, as many of those freedom-hating types suggest? I heard he once discouraged it.

Awwww. Well that's too bad. See, freedom of religion implies freedom from religion. The freedom to dye your hair green or purple also implies the freedom to keep it a natural color. Maybe you need a little touch-up on the First Amendment, and I quote: "Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof".

Don't like it? I hear Saudi Arabia has your style of nice "Christian" morals. Maybe a missionary trip over there would do you some good.

You cannot have freedom of religion without also having the option of freedom from religion. If you don’t have the choice to abstain, it is not really freedom is it?

I mean to say otherwise is like deciding what you are going to eat with your family thusly:
“We’re going out for Chinese. And don’t give me any of that I don’t like Chinese food, so I’ll just make a sandwich here’ crap! You have freedom of Chinese food, so you’re gonna have Chinese food and like it! Isn’t freedom great?”

And just because the President has one view, doesn’t mean Congress shares that view. So whether or not Perry or Bachmann are elected means aproximately squat with regards to the makeup of congress.

You can't really have freedom of religion without also having freedom from religion, too. Otherwise you're just imposing religion upon people, which you apparently seem OK with doing. Dominionists always seem to think that freedom of religion is OK, as long as that religion is Christianity.

In case you haven't noticed, there are hardly any atheists in Congress. In fact, being an atheist is political suicide in this country.

I'd like for these idiot nutjobs to just once show one example of how Obama is anywhere near a communist. The closest you could possibly come is the health care bill, and it's nothing like socialized medicine in other countries.

That's fascinating. In Finland (evil socialist country yadda yadda yadda), our Constitution says "No one is under the obligation, against his or her conscience, to participate in the practice of a religion". We've decreed, in no uncertain terms, that Freedom of Religion also includes the right to have a Freedom From Religion You Object To.

Why? Because "freedom from religion" also means that Christians are not required to follow Islamic practices. Or, heaven forbid, they're not required to follow that other Christian sect's practices.

That's what freedom of religion means. To each according to their own conscience, nothing more, nothing less.

I always wondered what Nixon & the Chinese discussed back when he visited them.

I hope, come 2012, America will vote the RINOS/Teabaggers out & embrace liberalism, that could be the start of an overthrow of the Chinese.

I wouldn't mind Chinese influence if they didn't steal our jobs & didn't practice civil rights abuses.

Of course, Chinese art, food, Feng Shui & spiritual & folk traditions are kinda neat, Confucianism, Taoism, Chinese Buddhism, Holistic Healing, TCM, Acupressure, etc....Modern Chinese govt. sucks but the cultural stuff is really cool.

The problem is, you can't have the former without the latter (at least not the way you mean it). Certainly, freedom of religion means that I will be exposed to religious billboards, TV shows, movies, books, etc. There is no way to avoid that short of barricading myself in my house and hiding under the covers. No one is disputing this.

As far as the government goes, however, if we start favoring one religion (ie, yours) over others, we no longer have freedom of religion - we have a state sponsored church. In order to prevent this, we keep religion and state separate.

We in the UK actually have a state religion, the Church of England. Yet nowhere here is such actually enforced, nor is it illegal to not be religious.

The UK is a very secular country, certainly in terms of our Parliamentary system (no GOP here, thank fuck!). My city, Hull, is one of the Top 5 least religious parts of the UK, with many churches empty; redeveloped as furniture warehouses, pubs/nightclubs (one called 'Heaven and Hell', ironically!) etc, or simply left to rot.

All I'd like to ask these American right-wing fundies is this: Why did your country have a War of Independence against we Brits, if you wanted a state religion?!
