[Crusader logic from a fundamental Christian]
...I take the long, cynical view. We are doing well, but sooner or later we will be faced with a choice to either remove the REAL source of terrorism-- Islam--- or turn around and go home, merely pretending that the enemy is completely defeated.
Have you been 'reaching the masses?' Making friends? Making allies?
Are they still Muslim? Well then, you're still an infidel-- and you failed. They'll forget your kindness within a generation of your departure, if it takes them that long; that's just human nature, and an ingratitude that Islam exploits quite readily.
We want to defeat Hitler's armies, and leave his propagandist in charge when we leave. Guess how effective that's going to be.
Sooner or later, we will finally be at total war with Islam. Because whether or not we want to declare it, it has already been declared on us. Repeatedly. Daily. In every mosque on earth, from the very first Muslim himself. And we won't escape from it by pretending we're not at war.

RH, old sock, old kid, I've lived through wars you've only heard of, starting with Worl War II. What we have today isn't a war. It may be a clash of cultures or a battle of equally goofy religions. But even though it involves a great deal of violence, take my word for it. A war it ain't.
Godwinish assholery at it's finest.
If we really want to remove the problem, we should eliminate ALL religions, by educating people in science, logic, and critical thinking, and NOT by killing people. It won't happen in my lifetime, but we should start working on it now and maybe in a few hundred years we will be free of religious idiocy and the violence and suffering it causes.
"They'll forget your kindness within a generation of your departure, if it takes them that long;"
You should hope so. Because your 'kindness' consisted of death and slaughter, opression, pillage. Maybe rape. I've not seen evidence about it, but what's war without rape? Your kindness was unjustified war, and if they forget it within a generation, you will be lucky.
And your religion is different how? The extremist Christian population avocates killing them, the extremist Muslim population avocates killing you. It's an endless cycle of mud slinging and hate against those with different beliefs. Despite what you might think, you are not going to be able to remove a major religion from the Earth with force, (to compare what they believe in with propaganda is absurd) so this idea that you both have to kill each other just goes on and on. Meanwhile the majority of sane people within both religions suffer.
Couple of things I want to clarify
1) Islam isn't the source of terrorism. Islam is a tool of terrorists used to recruit members. Religion has always been a tool of the hateful because it's so emotionally charged.
2) This isn't a war against an entire religion because no one in this country except for faggots like you want to alienate 1/3 of the world.
3) Go in and destroying a country such as Iraq is not going to stop anti-US sentiment and terrorism, in fact it's going to do the opposite. You people are your own worst enemy.
4) Are you throwing in a random Godwin just to show everyone how stupid you are?
So close, and yet so far.
The "real source of terrorism" has little to do with Islam or any religion, but more to do with "we are doing well" and many more are not. The rest of this post is nothing but paranoia and insane ranting.
Fortunately, no one with two functioning brain cells to rub together gives a flying happy fuck what RHJunior "thinks."
For which he should be grateful, really, because if anyone did, he'd have long since been beaten to death with a baseball bat around which is wrapped a copy of the Constitution.
While I agree that it would be great if all Muslims converted to a rational, logical way of life, war is not the way. Perhaps the Christian community could lead the way by abandoning their illogical, irrational beliefs. Demonstrate to the Muslims, Hindus and others that such a world society is possible and superior to constant contentions over the validity of various fairy tales.
Seamus D is probably the most accurate. The reason there's terrorism is because the terrorists are poor, uneducated, and hopeless. And when you have no hope, you'll listen to anyone who can offer you some. You'll do whatever they tell you to do, including killing people and dying. And why not? What do you have to come home to?
Why is it that when a Christian commits an atrocity, that person was "not a true Christian" and the atrocity is brushed aside, but when a Muslim commits an atrocity, he suddenly becomes the standard for a whole system of belief? Double standard, anyone?
Islam is more than killing infidels, just like Christianity is more than stoning adulterers, although you might not want it to be. When you realize that, you'll understand that you can't declare war because not all Muslims want to kill you.
Tragically, I'm not expecting much.
"For many centuries the sword and cross were allies. Together they attacked the rights of man. They defended each other."
Robert Ingersoll
.........."Voltaire", 1894, Sec. I
Failed for the Godwin in there.
Also, Islam is not the fluxing source of the terrorism. Religious fanaticism, just like the kind you yourself are guilty of, is.
You are an idiot. Religious wars probably pre-date history. The first was probably when Og(who worshipped the sun) hit Ug in head with a rock for worshipping that fake rain god. The First Crusade(in the 11th century) was sold to the common man(who didn't understand church politics, Byzantine machinations, and economic concerns from overabundance of trained warriors turning outlaws caused by ironically "too much peace" in western Europe) as stopping the immeadiate invasion by the Muslim turks. Other religions are the common boogie man for incompetent politicians to wage war since the beginning of time. Your idea is nothing new, it's just wrong.
Have you been 'reaching the masses?' Making friends? Making allies?
Well, not really. I have made friends with Muslims, but the reasons why I have don't have anything to do with their religion. And I wouldn't exactly call them "allies," at least not "allies against the war on terror."
Are they still Muslim? Well then, you're still an infidel-- and you failed.
Uh, yeah, they're still Muslim. I didn't become friends with them to convert them. I'm a Christian and I'M the infidel for failing to force them to change their beliefs out of self-righteous condescension? If that's what your definition of a friend is, you are truly pathetic.
Confused?
