A man accused of killing his wife told police that he was trying to exorcise a demon from her, when the devil entered his body and caused her to die.
Authorities had found her body at their home, wrapped in a bed sheet with a cross and sword on top of it.
60-year-old Jan David Clark, of Odessa, Texas, was arrested over the death.

In other news from the twelfth century...
An antipope schism occurred today when Roger II of Sicily pledged his support to Anacletus II as pope. Innocent II, the rival pope, fled to France.
@Osiris: under normal circumstances, I'd say insanity, on the grounds that no-one seriously thinks they'd get away with that as an alibi. That said, I'm not sure...because this site sure as hell makes you question assumptions like that.
Well, I suppose that if there ever was a demon in here, it left as soon as she died, so in a sense, he was successful.
Stupidly demons don't exist, that was his weak point.
I think it's Satan who fucked up worst in this instance. It seems he was trying to stop the exorcism by possessing the exorcist, but winds up killing the demon-hosting woman in the process.
Are there any supernatural beings who aren't blundering incompetents? It's like we've got the celestial Marx brothers running the universe.
this being Texas, he'll fry, right?
Sorry, he's a fundie - he'll get pardoned
<i>"Why Texas? Not all of us are raving fundie loonies! *sob*"</i> You know? maybe not texas, but i'm sure as hell this kind of people can be found ONLY, and i'm sure of this, in the USA...
On a side note: exorcism is for catholics, leave it to the pros...
This is just sad, whats sadder is that his Christian friends will abandon him saying that he is obviously 'not a true Christian'.
Senility may have played more of a role here than demons. But with rampant Christian raving being considered 'normal', it doesn't get recognized in time.
@ Thammuz:
It's not quite exclusive to America;

This was the guy who pushed needles into his sons' lips based on his religious delusions. It happened here in Britain, but the guy was originally from Nigeria. Christian Fundamentalism- 2008 World Tour baby!
P.S: You Stateside folks see what i'm doing for you? I'm disparaging stereotypes and breaking down barriers. I'm the Gandhi of this website I tell ya!
Not matter what happen he should have thought that through if a demon really possessed his wife, so I am going with stupidest alibis for 500. he could have tied her down and called a priest if he was strong in faith and not strong on insanity or drugs either way..
bet he came home and she was cheating on him.. thats irony
Poor Jan David is a victim of of society and just misunderstood. Where was the government-run social support structure to intervene? Society has contributed to Jan David's feelings of inadequacy, confusion, hate and a lack of an ability to cope with the modern-day stress our society imposes. Where were the psychs and their cadre of prescriptions? With all of GW's talk of religion, I'm sure George Bush has some culpability here.
Confused?
