[In a review of Victor Stenger's book "God: The Failed Hypothesis"]

Victor Stenger is a physicisist and therefore does not have the values and common-sense way of talking that me and my friends have - this angers me.

What makes me even angrier is that Victor seems to think that just by knowing "stuff" he can show that the gospels are wrong and there is no God. He should be more humble and admit that me and my friends are 100% right that God exists and that science cannot explain mysteries such as thought or how birds fly. Only through the eyes of faith can we really understand that Stenger doesn't know what he's talking about, because by believing in Jesus we strengthen our beliefs that we have the answers and Stenger and secular humanists should stop dissing us - this is a Christian country and they are guests.

Also, do not think that the false guess of evolution is true, because Charles Darwin thought of that while on opium and never practiced good science like Jesus and the apostles did. If evolution were true, Jesus would have told us about it, since he didn't Darwin was wrong and animals have always existsed the way they do now (except dinosaurs- people photoshopped pictures of them and fooled everyone and they never existed.)

Even if it is a Poe (which it probably is), it's even more frightening that 14 people (as of when I checked) said they found this review helpful.

Not having read the book, I am not in a position to weigh its merits and demerits against other books that forward similar theses.

That said, I don't see how this review assists anyone in deciding whether or not to buy the book. If you don't believe in god, this review isn't likely to change your mind about it. If you do believe in god, all this review essentially says is "nyaa nyaa poopy head scientist use big words".

What was that about Poe's law? That there's no such thing as religious satire, which someone, somewhere, won't take seriously? That 14 people found this review useful pretty much proves Poe's law, without regard to whether this is a legit review...

I believe science can. Thoughts are electro-chemical impulses in the brain and birds fly because of the differences of airflow over and under their wings, creating lift.

2. Yeah, we all know that physicists just don't possess that "common-sense way of talking" that any random person and their friends would obviously have...
3. Well, knowing "stuff" is better than pretending to know that God exists...
4. Yes, you and your friends must always be 100% right, of course, because you're just the smartest people in the whole world... Good Lord, how could we have missed this??
5. While "thought" is somewhat of a mystery (mostly philosophical though), how birds fly has not been a mystery for a very long time. Just because you reject the scientific explanation doesn't mean it's still a mystery, dipstick.
6. Of course it's only through the eyes of faith that you can realize that "Stenger doesn't know what he's talking about", because it's only through the eyes of faith that you can reject observable reality and cling to your unobservable beliefs.
7. Believing in Jesus may strengthen your beliefs that you have the answers, but that doesn't make your beliefs any more accurate it just makes you more and more wrong.
8. I assume you're speaking of the United States when you say "this is a Christian country and they are guests". So, let's say we all accept this analogy: Are you saying that, rather than accept a guest graciously into your home and treat them like royalty, as you should for any guest, you would instead stomp on them and not allow them to even hold different beliefs? Some host you are.
9. Citation needed for the opium claim. Besides, even if he did think of it on opium, that wouldn't make him wrong. If no one had been able to find evidence of evolution, then it wouldn't have mattered if he was the smartest person on Earth, his theory would have been rejected. It wasn't rejected, because they did find evidence. The circumstances under which he came up with the idea are a completely moot point.
10. "never practiced good science like Jesus"? I'm sorry, but when did Jesus EVER practice good science? Oh yeah, that's right, NEVER, because "good science" didn't exist back then.
11. A 12-year-old can recognize a shop, even a well-done one. Photoshopped dinosaurs might have fooled the idiot masses, but they wouldn't have fooled experts. Besides, what "photos" are you talking about? We don't HAVE photos of dinosaurs, and we don't claim to. No one would fall for that, because neither humans nor cameras existed at the time of the dinosaurs. What we have are fossils. Are you saying those are photoshopped, too?

Wow, eleven points... I think that's a record for me. But then again, this is a record for most amount of stupid/logic fail per character.

P.S. It seems a lot of people think this is a Poe... Sorry about that. I'm not good at recognizing Poes. But then again, is that not the foundation of Poe's law? XD And if it's stupid and I can't tell it's a joke, I just...HAVE to respond!!

In his early years, Charles Darwin was in training to join the clergy of the Protestant Church of England.

It was only from his discoveries - to his death - that Darwin was an Agnostic.
