Lust is a sin within marriage as much as it is outside it — even lust for your spouse. That's because lust is the objectification of another. And people, beings made in the image of their Creator, aren't objects. As believers, we're called to honor one another. It's a misconception that as long as you wait till you're married, any and every mode of sexual expression is legit. Romans 12:9-10 says, "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves." That's no less true in marriage than in among believers in the church.

Um...no lustful feelings means no consensual sex. I don't want to rape my spouse, thankyouverymuch.
Not to mention the fact that a lot of young people won't be too thrilled with marriage if it won't even let them have kinky sex.
All together now, on the count of 3!
'Every sperm is saaaacred, every sperm is riiiight....'
Apparently, it's evil to have sex even after being married. No wonder fundies are so angry. Sexual repression does that to you.
It saddens me to see such bullshit being pandered in this day and age.
EDIT: #71740 beat me to it.
How is it POSSIBLE to have sex without having lust for each other?
How is it POSSIBLE to be happy if everything that you truly enjoy, must be denied?
These people crave death for themselves, and everyone who crosses their paths.
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.
Uh, yeah. I don't think most people have brotherly love for their spouse. Just a guess.
"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves."
You heard it here! Stop lusting after your wife! Be gay!
I was just so appalled and amazed that even after a conservative Christian is married, to a person of the opposite gender, after waiting and waiting, there are *still* people trying to make them feel guilty for having sex just for the fun of it!
PS--Candice is married and pregnant. (I peeked at her blog, too.) Maybe she lets him have some on his birthday or something.
This is why christians should marry hideous people. Or gouge their eyes out.
In other words, if you can get it up for her, having sex will be a sin. But if you can't, and you're married, it's all okay.
If you aren't feeling all hot and bothered about your spouse, you are turning sex into something mechanical.
So according to your brain fart, a husband and wife (or any other marriage combo) aren't supposed to feel randy about the other? And just how do you think 'marital relations' aka sex is going happen?
Brotherly love? Are you advocating incest or homosexuality?
You frigid or just can't get asked out on a date?
I wonder how many people my age (the "20-something" demographic they're trying to reach) consider anything that far-right a group says as having merit.
In other words, I think if you're 20-something and don't consider this group to be legitimate already, there's no way they're going to listen to you, even if you do try ot pretty it up with langauge about loving and caring.
In even shorter words: considering how smart, tolerant and religious-free most people my age now are, I don't think they are actually going to reach most of their target demographic. (At least in my evil "liberal" area, Seattle. De Moines, Iowa, maybe.)
This is why most sane people, of any age, will tell you to take that worthless book of yours, fold it until it's all sharp corners, and shove it up your arse.
Wow, I can't make any sense of this. "Sex is bad, unless you're married, but even if you're married it has to be for the sole purpose of procreation?"
I think this is more a problem of randomly redefining words for the sake of looking down on other people. None of the dictionary definitions of the word "lust" actually say anything about objectification. Objectification *is* bad and nearly everybody would agree with that. But instead of just saying that "objectification is a sin within marriage as much as it is outside it," they muddle it up with the word most people use just to denote "sexual desire". And they get two birds with one stone because they also get to imply, now, that two unmarried people cannot have sexual desire for one another without objectification!
Sorry, Candice. It's not your language, for you to just make up whatever meanings for words that you want.
As an asexual, I must be a fundie's best friend. ...I'm not sure I want to be.
Maybe the fact that my special someone is a female-to-male will balance that out.
So church is just...one...big...sex...orgy...
Damn, I spent all that time in a MORMON church and they never even MENTIONED that! Irony?
Or is this post simply bullshit?
Even among fundamentalist Christians (a crowd I grew up with) this is retarded bullshit.
Lust is the tool for encouraging procreation, or, hell, just having a good time. Even Josh McDowell agrees.
Everything is a sin to you people, isn't it? If we didn't have lust, we wouldn't even exist. Lust is a key element in reproduction for humans. And just so you know, lust and love can coexist.
I'd be hella surprised if this woman has any kids. Aside from perhaps a bit of precum a guy can't ejaculate unless he orgasms which requires lust which is arousal, right?
Ah hell, she probably doesn't even know how it works.
Candance magic catch-22. You can't have sex before before marriage and in marriage, not if you objectify the other person which means, what exactly?, having sex, perhaps?
Wait, so I can't fuck even though I'm married?
Jesus H. Christ there are so many rules I can't keep them straight. Might as well just go along and ignore them all like I have done so far.
Lust is a sin within marriage as much as it is outside it even lust for your spouse.
So if my wife gets me turned on and I think about doing "things" to her I'm still sinning? My wife? Christ almighty, you guys are so completely f***ed in the head.
Hey Candice, why don't you cut off your boobs, rip your uterus out with a rusty salad fork, and pull your external genitalia off with a pair of pliers?
How about you just take a coarse cheese grater or a keyhole saw to hubby's junk?
WHAT!? Oh, pregnant too!? My my my, how DID you ever manage to carry out such a foul Satanic lustful hideous vomit inducing perverted and cursed activity as SEX!!
Allegory for Jesus: "She almost makes sense, in saying that people in relationship shouldn't objectify one another. Unfortunately, she manages to pour in a vat of religio-babble in order to drown out the common sense."
Well, that, and I think she's conflating the definitions of the words "objectification" and "lust". (Whether she does this deliberately or just out of ignorance, I don't know.) I may only have a few points in my Knowledge: Feminism stat as yet, but I'm pretty sure that lust=/=objectification, not automatically. After all, how else would we perform all those hot nasty sweaty kinky non-procreative sex acts that the fundies accuse us of like they're bad things?
I *think* she's trying to use code words because she is too uptight to even name the things that she's advocating against. I *think* she's not saying to not be attracted to your spouse, but is trying with "misconception that... every mode of sexual expression is legit." I believe she's trying to say no oral and no anal and no toys and no S&M and no kinky fetishes.
However, it's quite possible that she actually is trying to say what is a more literal interpretation and that you shouldn't have lust aka sexual desire for your spouse. Who fucking knows? My brain exploded either way.
Confused?
