[what action or belief would it take for your child to do to make you feel like you'd truly failed as a parent?]
I'd feel that I'd failed if she (or any future children) turned out to be a murder, rapist, child abuser/molestor, non-christian or was just one of those people that everyone hates because they are so rude and judgemental.

"I'd feel that I'd failed if she (or any future children) turned out to be a murder, rapist, child abuser/molestor, christian or was just one of those people that everyone hates because they are so rude and judgemental."
Fixed it for you.
Also, Death By Irony Overdose seconded.
murder, rapist, child abuser/molestor, non-christian
One of those is not like the others.
As happymealungen said, I'm a little surprised that this guy forgot "gay."
I mean, without that, it hardly warrants a "Two Million" on the fundie scale.
"Do as I say, not as I do."
Holy shit, I didn't realize I needed a laugh until I read this.
Thank you thunderofsins.
Because we all know that non-christians are the worst of all! Why, they're even worst than Hitler!
And that's a mighty shiny mirror you have there.
[...]one of those people that everyone hates because they are so rude and judgemental.
Better tell your parents that they failed by your standards.
I'm surprised you didn't include "gay" on that list.
Granted that murder, rape, and child abuse/molestation are pretty valid reasons to think that you've failed as a parent.
But non-christian? Come on man.
"...or was just one of those people that everyone hates because they are so rude and judgemental."
You mean like the type of person that would consider their child a 'failure' for having a different religious belief?
Check out the way this person is defending his/herself in the comments. It's comedy on top of comedy:
I did not mean to imply that non-christians are the same as the other things I listed. I answered the question that was asked, thats all, no need to try to read into it.
No, thats not what I said at all. Of course people can be rude and judgemental regardless of their religion/spirtual standing. People are reading into my comment and trying to make it mean things it did not mean. All that I meant by the Christian comment was that I am a christian and as such I believe that God has called me to raise my children to be Christians as well. If a child of mine was not a christian I'd feel that I had failed. Not that they had failed or that they were a bad person, just that I had failed - which is what the post was asking.
"Death By Irony Overdose"
"Pot, Meet Kettle"
"Highly Polished Mirror"
This idiot hit the stupid fundie trifecta!!
murder, rapist, child abuser/molestor, non-christian
One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?
Did you guess which thing was not like the others?
Did you guess which thing just doesn't belong?
If you guessed non-christian is not like the others,
Then you're absolutely...right!
-----------------------------------------
Three of these things belong together
Three of these things are kind of the same
Can you guess which one of these doesn't belong here?
Now it's time to play our game (time to play our game).
Thank you Sesame Street . You taught me how to play Odd One Out.
I'd feel that I'd failed if she (or any future children) turned out to be a murder, rapist, child abuser/molestor, or was just one of those people that everyone hates because they are so rude and judgemental."
that part I like fine. and a lot of religious parents would feel they'd failed if their kid was one of the ones they believe is headed for eternal hellfire. this isn't that bad really. now if it had said
"I'd feel that I'd failed if she (or any future children) turned out to be a feminist, liberal, homosexual, non-spanking parent, childfree, non-christian or was just one of those people that everyone hates because they are so rude and judgemental."
that would rate a 4. that would possibly rate a 5. this doesn't really.
or was just one of those people that everyone hates because they are so rude and judgemental.
So your child can not be like you?
Ever heard the phrase, "Like father like son."
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
