We need a freedom for religion....I am so tired of having to comform to what minorties want. We all know that there are far more CHRISTIANS in the US, than athiest....Why do we sit by and allow them to shove their non beliefs down our throats. It has always been a Majority rule in this country....and we CHRISTIANS are the majority. We are going to have to take a stand against such groups.

Shoving their own beliefs down everyone else's throats at club/polearm/sword/musket/M1A2 point, and they wonder why people would refuse...
Pretty sure they were screaming for minority rights back when they were being thrown at the lions, and would do so again. But then they've always thought of themselves as the only exception to each of their rules...
...In case you didn't notice, sweety, we're in the U.S. As far as religious freedom goes, you can't do much better than this. Why don't we ship you off to Iran and see how you fare?
I don't get it. Atheists stand up for freedom from religion, Christians get upset, demanding we follow their belief set, and we're shoving our non-belief down their throats? Piss off.
What's with all this support for tyranny of the majority?
Of course, it's only when the fundies agree with the majority. As soon as the topic is something such as evolution, the poor little good creationists are being persecuted by the secular hordes and something must be done to stop it!
Prohibiting forced prayer in schools is in favor of religious freedom. What if they pray in a Catholic fashion when you are protestant, muslim, hindu or buddhist? Would you agree? Then imagine what happens if you were one of the last few and were forced to pray in a way that doesn't fit with your religion at all.
Removing all forced religion from public lifes enforces the right to follow your own religion without interference from others.
When will this democracy cease and peope start embracing totalitarianism?
Is that what you are saying?
The majority are always right?
Like when women couldn't vote?
Or blacks couldn't use the same restroom as 'decent' folk?
The majority is wrong MANY times, and this IS one of them. Nobody is trying to kill you or run you out of town, but your aggression towards your imaginary foe is quite telling of your own lack of intelligence and patience.
There is INDEED a problem. If we take your denomination and level of practice alone, YOU´RE THE MINORITY. And let me remind you that a democracy consists in the fact that your freedom of religion neither means that you have right to impose your religion nor to ignore as well that your freedom ends where the same freedom of others begin.
Ahh, but which particular brand of the hundreds of different christian denominations are the True majority? Straighten that out, and then get back to us. Maybe you can pray on it or discuss it in church; despite what you may have heard, ain't no one stopping you from that.
We're taking away your freedom to take away our freedom? Well what about our freedom to take away your freedom to take away our freedom? How about that, wondermom? You're oppressing us!
Seriously, does this person honestly believe that not allowing public school teachers to conduct Christian religious services in the classroom is "shoving non-belief down peoples' throats"? Wondermom should take note of the case in Virginia where fundies won the right to send notices about vacation Bible school home in school children's backpacks. Unitarians turned around and used the same ruling to send notices of their festival, which included a Wiccan-type ceremony, in the same backpacks. All of a sudden, we saw the local Baptist pastor backpedaling on the idea. He even warned against re-introducing school prayer because he said if this happened then there was no assurance that it would be a Christian leading the prayer. Rather gives away the real "school prayer" agenda, doesn't it?
Just a few thoughts
If we break it down by sect, there are more Roman Catholics than there are any other sect (25.9% RC to 17.2% Baptist, and on down from there), so if we go by majority rule, should we let the Roman Catholic Church determine the political and cultural course in the U.S. (if I remember correctly, the Pope is against the U.S. involvement in Iraq).
Also, Al Gore won the popular vote in 2000. Would you like to see him as President? Personally, I'm so tired of having to conform to to what the minority party (Republicans) want.
Finally, what does it feel like to have a non belief shoved down one's throat? Is that like being hit with a non fist? I had a big breakfast of non food, and I 'm so hungry right now.
Dumbass.
An extremly worrisome french version of what pretty much amounts to this letter was in the paper this morning (in quebec city).
This parent was claiming that not having religious services in classrooms "robs our children of a wonderful tradition, passed on from ancient times".
having 13 kids, 4 of which live to see adulthood, and living in poverty while picking fleas off each-other because half your income goes to the church is certainly ancient, and certainly kept going for generations, but I'd rather not have that passed on to my own children, thank you.
I was an evangelical Protestant before my deconversion, and among themselves, evangelicals were fond of stating that only a tiny minority of Americans (let alone people anywhere else in the developed world) were genuinely saved and that the majority were nominal Christians. But that was last week's eternal verity, and it doesn't fit the current agenda.
“We need a freedom for religion....”
You have that. SO i have to think what you WANT is something else.
“I am so tired of having to comform to what minorties want.”
You mean like not being able to buy liquor on someone else’s Sabbath? Medical decisions being between you, your doctor, and the state legislature? Or the Presidency going to the LOSER of the popular vote?
Shucks.
Darn.
My heart simply bleeds for you.
"We all know that there are far more CHRISTIANS in the US, than athiest....Why do we sit by and allow them to shove their non beliefs down our throats.”
I think you confuse atheist beliefs and secular policies.
Sounds like what you want is to be able to discriminate.
“It has always been a Majority rule in this country....”
Except when it isn’t….
“and we CHRISTIANS are the majority. We are going to have to take a stand against such groups.”
First learn yourself up on the Constitution, please.
Confused?
