[Oh shiny, shiny mirror on the wall...]
I think what we have to remember about Islam is that unlike Christianity we are looking at a religion that has been spreading mostly by procreation. Most people who are Muslims are not Muslims because they choose to be, they are Muslims because are forced to be. You take away a nations ability to force Islam and Islam will weaken and fall apart on its own.

Most islamic nations lack the ability to force any large part of their population to do or be anything.
Most islamic nations have very old non muslim minority comunitys that enjoy basic economic rights.
Conversion to islam is most common in countrys where christianity has held power untill quite recently.
Those christian countrys that still have strict anti islamic policys and laws, have utterly failed to eradicate their islamic minoritys DESPITE improved military technology.
Most muslims are muslim because they were raised muslim.
Most muslims and christians keep to their faith because they want to
So basically instead of brainwashing their children into believing in the same thing they do (like most Christians do) it's your belief that the religion exists only because of government control. Hmm, and this nonsense is supposed to show that Christianity is better, how exactly?
If this is indeed true, that most Muslims are born not made, then its really not too surprising considering that most Muslim-dominant countries may not have as much access to family planning resources compared to Christian-dominant ones. Not to mention the fact that Muslims normally marry earlier than Christians.
At the same time however, countries like the US and those in Europe do have healthy Muslim populations. However there are a lack of converts due to the stigma they face from the 'whites', especially due to 9/11. Although there are claims that the number of converts is increasing, I can't validate that.
The exact proportion of Muslims born and converted is hard to find, largely because of discrepencies and possibly the fear of persecution. The only source I found is a Christian, anti-Muslim site, so that is thrown into doubt.

All religions are spread by procreation. Most Christians are Christians because the society they grew up in was largely Christian. The same for Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, etc..
Of course, all religions have thrown in their bit of violence and conquest, too.
Who bitches about sex education, birth control, lack of abstinence-only programs, and women not being baby factories for Jesus?
And who keeps spouting "this is a Christian nation, convert or get out"?
Who seems to be trying to force Jesus down our throats with legislation & creation 'museums' & bloody televangelists?
Who inspired the stereotype of screaming, bible-waving fire-and-brimstone nutcases?
I'm pretty sure it's not fundie Muslims.
You take away a nations ability to force Islam and Islam will weaken and fall apart on its own.
Well, that's basically what is happening to christianity in Western Europe.
That's odd...most of my family is Catholic because -- get this, they were raised that way by their parents! And you know what!? Same thing with THEIR parents, and so on. It wasn't forced on them by the government, but I was certainly baptised and a few other things without my consent. Luckily I had the intelligence to put a stop to the nonsense.
There is a real need for a program to educate fundies about the dangers of iron poisoning...
@JD: yeah, that's it.
I'm a Roman Catholic,
And have been since before I was born,
And the one thing they say about Catholics is:
They'll take you as soon as you're warm.
You don't have to be a six-footer.
You don't have to have a great brain.
You don't have to have any clothes on. You're
A Catholic the moment Dad came,
Because
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
