i think some of you choose to be atheist because u are at a forum read what people have to say and go with their opinion because it is in fact more believable.
Aside from the fact that, as mentioned previously, belief is not exactly a choice, this may be true for some people. Certainly not all, but occasionally someone could read a blog or other such posting and suddenly *bam* it all starts to make sense.
i also think some of you choose to be atheist so u can bash every christian that comes in your path so u can say the things that you have read every other wanna be atheist say.
This statement is, to put it mildly, insultingly retarded. Most atheists are irreligious; they bash Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Scientology, etc. with equal fervor. However, due to the fact that most developed countries are predominantly Christian, hence most people on the internet are Christian, Christianity is the religion most irreligious atheists encounter the most frequently. Thus, it is the religion most irreligious atheists will argue against, because there's no point in pointing out the flaws in Raelianism when most readers don't believe it themselves. Also, I like the implied "atheists do not exist" argument at the end there.
im agnostic.
Sure, but that tells us nothing about what you believe. Agnosticism is not some "middle way" between belief in a god or gods and disbelief in any gods. Agnosticism (and the opposite, gnosticism) are statements of knowledge, whereas atheism (and the opposite, theism) are statements of belief. Thus, one can be uncertain about the existance of gods (agnostic), but believe in one (or more) anyways (theist), or not believe in any because of it(weak atheist). Alternatively, one can be certain (gnostic) that no gods exist (strong atheist), a rarely taken general position, or certain that their god(s) exist(s) (theist).
i think that there are possibilitys in all religions but i refuse to believe that one is the prime example.
To be honest, I somewhat doubt the sincerity of this statement.
if your atheist ways are wrong and like in the other post where the person said love jesus cuz u got a hole in your heart blah blah. you shouldnt be saying shit like omg your lord is bullshit, cuz it is possible there is one.
First off, religion and atheism are related in much the same way atheism and agnosticism are related. It is completely possible to be a religious atheist or an irreligious theist, they're simply not prevalent.
Second, the statement "love jesus cuz u got a hole in your heart" is hurtful and arrogant; statements of this nature often elicit extreme reactions.
Third, simply because something is possible does not make it likely nor even relevant. It is possible there is a teacup orbiting the sun between Mercury and Venus. What are the likelihoods of this? What possible relevance could this have to everyday existence? Simply because something is possible does not grant us the authority to make shit up to cover for our ignorance.
to be honest it makes u look stupid i know damn well you wouldnt be doing that shit in real life because you know that.
Well, since we're speaking honestly, it's more likely that atheists don't speak out more often out of fear of retribution. It's admittedly unlikely that it would take the form of physical violence (at least in the West), but it's quite possible that atheists could lose their jobs, their families and/or their friends because they spoke out against religion. In other words, saying "shit like omg your lord is bullshit", although certainly not polite, does not make someone look stupid. Posting on internet forums, however.... :p
