[Regarding Winston's views on euthanasia]
I hope your talk about unbearable suffering and the like doesn't mean that you are suffering from depression or don't feel your life is worth living. I'm praying for you.

You fool. The idea of euthanasia is that it is available as an option to patients suffering from a condition which would otherwise result in a protracted, painful, and inevitable death. Depression clearly does not fall into this category.
This isn't fundie at all (well, apart from the "praying for you" bit) it's a perfectly legitimate point, because depression can skew a person's perceptions in such a way that even a normal life can seem unbearable, but in such a case it is certainly preferable to treat the depression rather than allow euthanasia -- which any doctor who isn't a halfwit would recognize.

Yeah, maybe I'm not getting the context, but it seems like an expression of concern, not of fundieness.

Actually, I'm not sure how depression doesn't fit those criteria :p
I'd also have to say that this seemed like an expression of concern for Winston's well-being rather than something Fundie.
"Unbearable suffering" is *why* there are suicides from depression. And it is sometimes the case that those who are suffering from depression are not able to kill themselves. (That's why there seems to be a rise in the risk of committing suicide when depressed people start anti-depressant medication. They regain just enough ability to act to carry out what they have wanted to do for a long time.)
And,in this context, I wouldn't be offended by someone saying they would pray for me. It's just their way of saying "I care and I want to help". So prayer doesn't work -*shrug*- it's the intention and compassion that count.
:I hope your talk about unbearable suffering and the like doesn't mean that you are suffering from depression”
The fact that you believe an infinitely loving god knows people are dying, slowly, with no hope, and leaves them there, should be depressing. That you think it’s better to leave this shit in that imaginary fuckwit’s hands is also a bit of a downer.
But to minimalize something like what Robin Williams was dying of to ‘feeling depressed’ is just bonedeeply offensive.
:or don't feel your life is worth living.”
We’re all going to die. I hope to teach my granddaughter to spit watermelon seeds into her father’s hair before i die, so i have a life worth living. That doesn’t prevent me from seeing there are absolute horrors out there, that i would not condemn my worst enemy to.
"I'm praying for you.”
So, you’re going to do FUCK ALL for this guy, and all those who suffer terminally, and know it, but you’ll feel smug about doing NOTHING AT ALL.
Fuck off.
Confused?
