Today Motorola (a Google company) has defied all logic making the stunning announcement of a new feature by for the Moto X – a digital tattoo that can unlock your phone. It seems the normal 2.5 seconds it takes to punch in your pass code is just too long! Motorola wants to shorten it to a mere second of time. Yes they are rolling out this ‘mark of the beast prototype’ all in the name of security and convenience. Chances are it will be coming to a store near you—..

First it was tattoos, then it was RFID chips, and now it's tattoos again?
Get some new material, e-scatologists!
"all in the name of security and convenience"
Well, we'll have none of that!
Next you'll be complaining about extra fruit in your Jam.
I was hearing some 20 years ago about how in just a few years everyone would have to have a microchip implanted in their thumb in order to buy or sell anything. The level of paranoia didn't make it true back then, either.
And if you don't want a digital tattoo, don't get a digital tattoo.
I thought barcodes were the mark of the beast...no, wait, it was RFID chips...no, wait, it was signing up for Obamacare...
Oh, right, EVERY new technology or program is the mark of the beast to fundies.
But that can't be the mark! Everyone knows the mark is your P.O. box number! Er, I mean it's your social security number! Scratch that! It's barcodes- No, wait! It's your pin number! NO, WAIT! I GOT IT! It's your birthday! Calendars are the work of the devil and we all accepted his mark when we accepted that everyone is born at a certain point during an ever repeating cycle! Quick! Burn anything with a date on it!
The 'beast' referred to in Revelations was the 1st century Roman Emperor Nero, and the mark of the beast is simply the number calculated by applying gematria to his name and title. It's variously given as 666 or 616 in different manuscripts, depending on whether they were calculating the numeric value from a greek or latin transliteration into hebrew.
@ Professor von SCIENCE!!! : Thank you for that today! :)
And "the Mark of the Beast" has been thought to be a lot of different things over time -and not just in one form, but either a name or a number or a mark.
"It seems the normal 2.5 seconds it takes to punch in your pass code is just too long!”
Or, some people have a problem remembering numbers.
OR some people want something more secure than the number that their girlfriend already knows.
"Motorola wants to shorten it to a mere second of time.”
I’m sure there’s a market for people who want a tattoo on their cheek so that the phone ONLY unlocks when they lift it to their ear and n o one else can hack their passcode. Or don’t want to be bothered by a passcode but also don’t want the phone unlocked all day long.
"Yes they are rolling out this ‘mark of the beast prototype’ all in the name of security and convenience.”
But not as a requirement for buying and selling, i see.
“Chances are it will be coming to a store near you—..”
Meh. I’ve done worse for convenience.
And think of the stories! “Grandpa! Why is there a shiny dot on your temple?”
“Well, dear, when the aliens landed in 2005, they tried to tag the resistance fighters with…”
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
