A great many of the world's greatest scientists believe in an intelligent creator. God's "laboratory" is the universe, not the limited environment of the science lab.
I am not worried about leaders who believe in intelligent design, God, or biblical creationism. The narrow-minded who can observe the wonder all around us (including ourselves) and come to the absurd conclusion that this all happened randomly, and who then wish to drastically alter our way of life, business, government, birth rates, and survival as a result - now those are scary people I don't want leading this or any other nation.

Stop playing martyr. No one's trying to 'drastically alter' your way of life. You are perfectly free to believe whatever nonsense you wish and live your life accordingly, provided you're prepared extend the same courtesy to those who don't happen to believe the same as you. You're one of this planet's luckier citizens in that respect, so stop being such a whinging ingrate. Can you do that?
Translation: "I'm content to keep going the way we are going, making war with everyone different from us and filling this planet to bursting point with kids that we can't feed, clothe or care for. And I'm going to do it all in god's name."
...who then wish to drastically alter our way of life, business, government, birth rates, and survival as a result - now those are scary people I don't want leading this or any other nation.
Well, keep it up. You may finally get the apocalypse you so earnestly wish for us all.
As well, you may find both the circumstances and the outcome of said apocalypse to be somewhat *different* than you were led to believe they would be.
Just ask the Neanderthals.

So a complete lack of critical thinking ability is a quality you value in a leader?
"Now these are scary people I don't want leading this or any other nation."
I have three words for you Mr. Sharp: George W. Bush
A Fundie. With his finger on the pretty red button. Now THAT is truly scary.
Who wants to drastically alter business, government, birth rates or survival as a result of accepting evolution? No one.
Someone has been listening to too many scare stories from preachers.
The Fundy scientific method has nothing to do with god, but plenty to do with misinformation.
Where does this random idea come from?
Stripping some of these people from their uneducated god theories is like stripping a child from a security blanket.
Natural selection is not as much "random" as it is driven in part by environmental factors. Environmental changes are not "random" either, but are driven in part by geological factors. Geological changes are not "random", but are fairly well understood, and with more data rolling in, our understanding is enhanced.
Okay, "g0ddidit".
How? Don't bullshit us, Paul Sharp. The typical/normal five-year-old can smell the bullshit.

This is often referred to as 'Whistling in the Dark".
How are you able to type this with your head up your ass?

Fortunately, these people don't exist, apart from the lunatic fringes. They're a figment of your preacher's imagination, but if you fast long enough you might get to see them too.
Would a perfect creator not denote a perfect creation...? As in completely self-sufficient, impervious to pain, etc. etc. etc. Look at it realistically...as God's perfect creation, we're SERIOUSLY flawed.
Yes, there are many scientists that believe in a god of some sort. But they also recognize that this god, force spirit higher power FSM, has given them a brain. They are able to separate matters of faith from matters of science.

Firstly, citation needed. Secondly, and...? A great many are probably called David, too. So what?
::Dusts off old Galileo quote::
"I do not feel obliged to believe that that same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forego their use"
"The narrow-minded who can observe the wonder all around us (including ourselves) and come to the absurd conclusion that this all happened randomly, and who then wish to drastically alter our way of life, business, government, birth rates, and survival as a result - now those are scary people I don't want leading this or any other nation."
Really? Because I find the people who would plant a millennia old book of myths and shepherds tales in a position of power, and enforcing arbitrary, questionable laws on the people even scarier. But that's me. I choose to think as opposed to blindly follow someone who says pretty words.
Confused?
