Bill Nye ends his video in a way that surprised me:
"We told a story the way you might do if you had too many Jell-O shots."
In case you don’t know what a Jell-O shot is, it’s a way of consuming alcohol. Is Nye saying that if someone had too much alcohol, that evolution is the type of story they might tell?
Well, I agree he told a story, using the word story in the way many define it today: a fairy tale!
Christians have a very different view of origins, of course. But it’s not a “story.” It’s a true account of history. I teach children that the Bible is “the history book of the universe.”
How about reading Genesis 1–2 to your children and sharing with them the true account of origins?

Of all the thousands of creation myths, many older than Genesis, why is it that genesis is correct? None of the others agree with it. Go to south America and ask the tribes of the amazon how the world came to be, then ask the ancient incas, Aztecs, the Australian aboriginals and the arctic eskimos.
They all disagree.
Then go to the amazon and get a fossil. Then get another from peru, and read genetic research done in mexico. Read the results of micro-biological testing in Australia, and collect another fossil from Antarctica.
They all agree: Evolution by natural selection.

I don't know what they were smoking, 6,000 years ago, but maybe cooking your food over camel shit gets you the high it took the goat boys to dream up those genuine factual, for realsies hysterical accounts, wink wink nudge nudge .why , do they defend these few unbelievable contradictory pipe dreams when the whole rest of their book is just as ridiculous.

Hambone, I'm going to tell you this as gently as I can: stop stalking Bill Nye. He beat you like a cheap carpet. Time to let it go and do something more in keeping with Jesus' wishes. That's what my parents did... and because they didn't just assert it as being truth and outright dismiss any of my questions with "just believe or go to hell!" they realised that what they believed to be literal truth just didn't add up.
And that's how a 7 year old boy managed to "convert" his parents into Atheists... by actually caring about what is true, rather than just believing something to be true no matter what.

Hell, with death trap bridges, a third world healthcare system (especially in the South), faith becoming a necessary part of politics (in most places you can't get elected if you're not a Christian and even when you do you get harassed by Michelle "the reincarnation of Joe McCarthy" Bachmann), and our education system failing we aren't too far off. All we need is a big enough blow to the economy and a right wing president and we become irrelevant on the world stage. Unfortunately, because Europe has so much invested in the US we might take them with us. Thankfully, I see the light at the end of the tunnel and the pendulum is ready to come swinging back with a vengeance with the millennial generation being overwhelmingly liberal.

That sounds disturbingly similar to the sort of wishful thinking at Rapture Ready. It starts out by listing a bunch of reasons why Earth is going to hell in a handbasket, then asserts that it will soon all be turned around by what might as well be an act of God. "Make sure you're on the good-guy side, and not the evil side that's totally going to lose! Soon! Any day now!"

Please fill this out in triplicate. Then get yourself a phonebook and see if you can find one person - just one - who actually gives a shit.

I bet that quote is out of context and means something different than you shoe-horn it into.
Evolution isn't about origins, you silly old man! The Bible is neither true nor history, it's just a religious myth. You're lying to children, you evil man. Genesis 1 and 2 contradicts each other, so yes, by all means, read them to the kids so they'll know that the Bible is a badly compiled collection of myths and fairy tales.

If we get a right wing president, particularly a Tea Party type, that won't change the fact that we have a powerful military. Irrelevance might be wishful thinking in that eventuality. That said, technology is widespread and utilized enough in the United States that I can't really see us becoming the equivalent of a Third World country. You said it would be possible with a large enough blow to the economy, but we'd need a very large blow for that to happen. As it happens, the United States is still the sort of country in which the phrase "First World Problems" is a common meme.
As for millenials, they can only use power if they are willing. No doubt, they lean strongly progressive on social issues, and have done very well in turning the tide. But on issues such as healthcare, money in politics, reforming the institutional problems in America's justice system, we need far more than a change in thinking. We need a plan and a will to follow through with that plan. One of the problems with a movement that encourages freethought is that you often lack such initiative.

Technically speaking, Obama is centrist/centre-right. If we have a fascist president (eg. Michele Bachmann, Peter or Steve King, Louie Gohmert), then there is a lot more to worry about.
Hell, they're trying to make Louie Gohmert the Speaker of the House. The first in a looooooooooong line of 114th Congress stupidity, I presume (the Scalise revelations were in December).
Hamm claims after the debate the money rolled in for his Ark Park project. I'm suspicious enough about scammers like him to suspect the Republican state of Kansas fully intended to funnel even more taxpayer dollars his way but wanted a somewhat plausible story to throw people off.
I'm wondering how many of these debates Bill will do before he realizes that they (Hamm always delivers the same monologues, as does Comfort and kid and Craig ) never answer questions or bring anything new to the debate, They also usually control the site of debate and either cut audience Q and A down to near nothing or refuse to answer questions from the audience (Craig's REAL BAD for that one.)

Actually, it's in Kentucky, a relatively very conservative state that is mostly controlled by moderate to conservative Democrats, like Steve Beshear and Jack Conway. Even so, they tear Ham a new one with respect to his "museum."

I agree, the U.S is not becoming Uganda because of Christian nutjobs. But china is fast becoming the world leader in biological research, and when all the biology jobs are taken up by Chinese students the tea party will cry about the liberal bias of facts. If you want American students getting jobs in biological fields of science, it might be a good idea to teach them, you know, biology? Because denying fossils exist is not getting you a PHD.
