God ordered the children of Israel countless times in the Bible to go in and completely exterminate whole countries killing everyone. Why did he do that if it was against his commandments? Because it was as Bro. Randy said, it was justified killing. The nations had sinned against God, and done sins worthy of death so God used Israel to wipe them out. God also commanded Israel to stone many people for certain wrongs they commited under the law. The punishment was death for many of the sins(murder, adultry, fornication, ect...). So there is a difference in murdering the innocent, and killing the ones who deserve it. That is the reason that I support Capital Punishment.

Oh, yeah, Biblical executions were always the most logical and justified punishment for the "crimes".
"And he who strikes his father or his mother shall surely be put to death." (Ex. 21:15)
"And he who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death." (Ex. 21:17)
"You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for [it is] holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does [any] work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh [is] the Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does [any] work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death."" (Ex. 31:14-15)
"Whoever lies carnally with a woman who [is] betrothed to a man as a concubine, and who has not at all been redeemed nor given her freedom, for this there shall be scourging; [but] they shall not be put to death, because she was not free." (Lev. 19:20)
Look, sex outside of marriage is NOT punishable by death, provided the woman is a slave!
By these rules, fully 99% of the world deserves to be executed.
In French, it's about «Que celui qui n'a jamais péché lui jette la première pierre.» According to the Web, in English, it can be read as «He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.» Who said that again?
God says "Thou Shalt Not Kill". Not " Do As I Do".
By taking God's power upon yourself by doing as he does, not doing what he commands, you are breaking two commandments. Thou shalt not kill and Thou shalt not take God's name in vain.
It's off to hell with you Marksman.
And where does it end, this killing for god?
Who are you people to be the last authority on what is right and wrong? We had that crap previously - inquistion, crusades - it was called the Dark Ages.
Thank reality for science.
Do any damn commandments apply to fundies? "Thou shall not kill" is pretty damn straight forward I think. "Thou shall not bear false witness"! Yep, sounds pretty clear to me. So why is it that fundies like Randy want to drive these things down our throat, post them in our schools, make them our laws, then they ignore them at will? Hypocritical self-righteous goons spouting "Do as I say, not as I do" are not going to encourage us to take scripture literally when they obviously take only what appeals to them that way!
Given the justice systems of our respective countries, Marksman, are based on the premise that it's better for any number of guilty people to go free than for an innocent person to be punished, capital punishment doesn't seem very inkeeping does it. I mean, it's not like they ever get it wrong , right?
The Bible also preaches that if a single person in a city does not worship Christ, the city's residents (yes, all of them) shall be masscred, all animals killed, and the city destroyed, never to be rebuilt.
Which begs the question: Why's he so mad at Usama ibn Ladin and Timothy McVeigh? According to the Bible, all of America and indeed the world needs destroying anyway, right?
Hypocrite.
as god hasn't directly spoken to you, or anyone else for that matter, on the record, for some time now.... I think that judging "the ones who deserve it" should be done with.... shall we say.... restraint?
Once again, god makes us in his image, gets made when we do what he does.
God's crimes against entire race=justified killing.
Milosivich crimes against entire race=genocide/ethnic cleansing.
Hypocrite much god?
The early Israelites wrote the old testament, so of course they put in the part about god telling them to exterminate their enemies?
History is written by the winners.
Having said that, I don't mean to say that I consider the bible to be a valid historical narrative.
Can you tell me a single sin that those nations supposedly did(and not the virgins who were raped)that the Israelites didn´t do?, can you tell me what did Jesus mean "whoever is free of sin, cast the first stone?. Who deserves death, after all?, are you meaning that you are sinless or better than your fellow mates?
But according to your religion NOBODY is innocent, right? So why aren't you all righteously killing one another? Really, why? Go on, start. Start now. Please.
Confused?
