I don’t think there’s any such thing as ‘pretty much disproven.’
I’ll believe ‘abandoned.’ Piltdown Man got harder and harder to fit into the theories as more observations were made, and they stopped referring to him long before they actually proved it was a hoax. But there was definitely a point where it was disproved.

‘Obvious’ to you is not the same as ‘disproven’ or even ‘unpopular.’

First off, the Big Bang wasn’t the sort of explosion you see in IEDs or grenades. More like when you open the can of mixed nuts and snakes come out.
Second, even for actual bombs, that’s a lie. Every single explosion leaves order. Experts can tell where the explosion was at, what was used, how it was initiated, with enough information to identify individual bomb makers. Thus ‘forensics’ instead of ‘Chaoseteers.’

It’s not. Pretty much the same practice, experts find evidence of what happened, match it to other observations and build the hypothesis.
