This was in response to a post about an Athiest soldier.

"I've been out of the Corps for over 30 years... but I can tell you that were such to have shown up in my team, the BEST he could hope for is a lawsuit.

Atheists are vile, loathesome people and have no business in US culture. They're a horrific cultural infection which spreads only discontent and sorrow...

The idea that we want the most powerful fighting force in human history to be infected with the idea that God does not exist and thus Might makes Right, is LUDICROUS.

The US military stays in check becase the people comprising it are honorable, God fearing people with a conscience of duty to God, Nation and Corps...

Infect them with the asinine screed of the atheist left and catastrophe beynd your means to comprehend is all that you can possibly expect.

You seem to not realise that faith is a poor substitute for training.

Allegedly quite a few british soldiers who I worked with complained that their american counterparts received inadequate battlefield training. They seemed to replace faith in their friends with faith in a non existant god. What they put down to God is their brothers, luck and technology. It means that the US can skimp on some of the time consuming training. Such as battlefield medicine which is allegedly "awful".

Most powerful is but a misnomer. So far the US has been fighting "whipping boys". Iraq's WW2 era military crewed by untrained citizen levy vs. a runaway military budget? Hell the entire Axis of Evil spends a small percentage of the US's military budget.

And not surprisingly such arrogance has been proven the US's downfall before. And it is again. A rethink of power is needed. Victory is not the winning of a battle but the winning of a war... And power is a concept of that. Its not the damage you can do, its the effect.

For a demonstration of "power" check out the liberation of Bangladesh. Its a similar circumstance to Iraq. Look at the difference of how it was achieved.

As for "Duty to God, Nation and Corps". Thats a horrible way to live your life. I mean what sort of person would I be if I treated people differently on the basis of their belief or country?

As a military wife, I am seriously offended by this person's lack of knowledge about the military of today. Check the oath and note about it:

"I, (name), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. (So help me God.)

Note that the last sentence is not required to be said if the speaker has a personal or moral objection, as is true of all oaths administered by the United States government."

So far, re-reading the Constitution which they promise to uphold and the UCMJ, there is nothing about being any specific religion. As a matter of fact, the Constitution says/is interpreted as saying the exact opposite of what PI is saying - the military, as an agency of the US government CAN'T establish a preference of one religion over another, or religion over non-religion.

Good thing he is out of the military since he obviously can't live up to the oath.

I’m curious as to how long you were in the Corps, and what rank you attained.

Atheists have families and friends. They have people that they lovejust like people of faith do. They have no more or less right to be here than you and your ilk. To suggest otherwise is contrary to the founding principles of this country.

Atheism does not equate to immorality, despite what you’ve been told to believe.

Furthermore, atheists in the military volunteer to go into harm’s way to serve and defend their countryjust like soldiers of faith. That you can’t show them some basic courtesy in return speaks volumes about your characteror lack thereof.
