Yes, they could just take it off the net -- as easily as they got rid of the illegal music and movies... I.e. perhaps make a small dent.
The Internet treats censorship as damage and routes around it. (That's a quote from someone, but I don't recall who.) You can try, but it ain't gonna happen (especially when many sites are run from servers outside US territory and thus outside of US regulations).
HA! Take all the porn offline, that's funny. What some people fail to realize, among other things, is the amount of money that this "vulgar" stuff brings in.
You know, here's the thing. By the time I have kids old enough to be interested in sex, I know they're going to go looking for the porn. It's futile to keep them away from porn sites, because they'll just look when you're not there and erase the history when they're done. I hope to be open to any questions they have though.
But the internet is the only place where porn is free, and i've been watching porn since i was 13, i'm 17 now, everyone i know, all around my age has had a wank to porn at some point or other, none of us are directly harmed by it, we're capable of separating fantasy from reality, that's what a brain is for. sure it's annoying and embarrasing to stumble upon porn by accident, but think about it, is porn as bad as some of the snuff films out there?
I've like looking at pictures of naked women since I was 14. Now I'm 51. Still photos, moving pictures, sex with multiple partners, caning movies, pissing movies (not really my scene, but still), lesbian movies etc etc. I've seen loads of them all.
