Squekytoad, be careful. Don't prod these people, you're hurting their egos.
I know it can be fun, being that Dawkinheads and Athiests think their the smartest people in the world, but this is all they've got. Don't take it away from them. They just can't stand the fact that they live in a country where upwards of 90% of the people believe that a supreme being (a God if you will) exists. This is why they are so bitter all the time.
You're absolutely correct though, they are proving Ben's point. You would think that we lived in a country where we could have the freedom to express different ideas. But not if you payed attention to these Fascists.

Funny, a guy who can't seem the grasp the difference between "they're" and "there," who capitalizes a conjunction in the middle of a sentence, who doesn't know when to use a semi-colon, and who doesn't know what Fascists are deigning to impugn someone else's intelligence.
You have the freedom to express whatever ideas you want, but there are restrictions on when and where; with good reason.
You don't express the idea that the film you're watching sucks when you're in the middle of a cinema theatre. Those people paid to watch that film and you're ruining it.
Similarly you don't express ideas about in intelligent design in science class because the taxpayer paid for those kids to learn science, which you'd be ruining.
Freedom of speech, does not give you the right not to be laughed at.
Until you are arrested for your speech, you are not being persecuted.
"A supreme being (a God if you will)"
???
Interesting way of putting it.
Anyone else think of Sir Ralph Richardson when they read this? "Back to creation. We mustn't waste any more time. They'll think I've lost control again and put it all down to evolution."
"You would think that we lived in a country where we could have the freedom to express different ideas. But not if you payed attention to these Fascists."
Unintentional irony here. The fascist Fundies, are the ones who always go on about how we have no freedom of speech. If you pay attention to them, yes you will get that message.
"You would think that we lived in a country where we could have the freedom to express different ideas. But not if you payed attention to these Fascists."
Okay, I have a few "different" ideas.
1. Creationists want to impose Nazism as state policy.
2. Creationists hate black people and women.
3. Creationists did 9/11.
4. Creationists took jobs from other hard-working Americans, and should emigrated back to Heaven.
5. Creationists are trying to silence evolution supporters and are oppressing them in order to better control the masses.
6. Creationists are immoral, hedonists, and lead to the downfall of societies.
7. Creationists are sending off dissidents to concentration camps in secret and plan on invading Poland. They also have resurrected Hitler and have orgies with him regularly, often referring to him as the Second Coming of Jesus.
Freedom of expression cuts both ways. And it still has no place in course cirricula.
Fascists? My, did we lean a new word at school today. Okay you little clone, give me the exact definition of a fascist. Oh, it must have come from the same place you pulled your faith from.
Dear itsHISTORY,
Sorry to break it to you, but Ben Stein was just in it for the money.
Also, proponents of fascism tend not to be atheist.
Once upon a time 90% of your country believed that keeping slaves was okay and that black people should be segregated and all manner of idiocy like that.
The freedom to express ideas comes with responsibility. For instance if you want your ludicrous concept of creation to be taught then we would also assume that you would want other religions to be taught alongside christianity. After all lets teach the controversy.
Lets allow doctors to learn faith healing and blood letting and traditional medicinal techniques such as treating stomach injuries with onion soup rather than our mordern medicine!
Teaching the controversy is only useful if there is a distinct possiblity between two sources. So whether the dinosaurs were cold or warm blooded would be teaching the controversy. Whether evolution or creationism is right is not teaching the controversy, it is allowing superstition a place in the classroom on an equal pedestal to science.
"90% of the people believe that a supreme being (a God if you will) exists"
Again I would point out that your own Bible states that those that follow the majority or 'broad' path are usually incorrect, while those following the minority or 'narrow' path are the ones in the right.
So you have the freedom to express your ideas, and so does anyone who agrees with you, but atheists don't...
And they're the fascists?
Dawkinsheads, bet you laughed for hours after you came up with that one.
Aren't you expressing your opinion right now. We have no problem with you expressing your opinion, although we will laugh if your opinion is stupid. You however seem to get very annoyed and scream persecution about everything in existance that goes against your opinion when ironically you're the ones persecuting people.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
