But while we're on the subject, the belief of creation is very plausible and probable. Thousands of scientists agree that the human body is made too perfectly and too complex to have been formed by chance. I'm sure you're also aware of the situation with our sun. If we were but just a little farther away, we'd freeze to death, but a bit closer and we'd be burned alive. There's a perfect cycle of water, and basically a circle of life also. The male has one less rib than the female, in all cases. I actually thought this was a myth when I first heard it; I was surprised to hear it was actually true.
["Gonzalez, you're an idiot. I'm pretty sure Men don't have one less rib than women, idiot."]
LOL GOOD THAT YOUR PRETTY SURE B/C YOU JUST OWNED YOURSELF IRELAND BOY
[Later in the thread...]
Btw before anyone owns me I'd like to own myself: All women and men have the same amount of ribs. My mother (hah) who is a natural health consultant, claimed that men did have one less rib than women, and she said she had heard it in an anatomy class. Stupidly, I believed her without doing my own research. Apparently, they have the same amount of ribs.

Non-contradiction award?. Again, what are you speaking about?. I already noticed that you were not particularly gifted when I read that you think that scientists make judgements like "perfect", "beautiful", etc............(they describe things the way THEY ARE, with no preconceptions, not the way they should be according to an aesthetic criterion)
"I actually thought this was a myth when I first heard it; I was surprised to hear it was actually true."
_gonzalez, you sound like one of those cheesy cleaning product ads.
Thousands of scientists agree that the human body is made too perfectly and too complex to have been formed by chance
Bull.
Most of the "scientists" who signed that statement have degrees from diploma mills or are dental hygenists or elementary school teachers who minored in anatomy.
Admitting error upon the discovery of contradictory information? Not fundie~~
Believing bullshit fed you by your parents? 100% fundie.
Averages out to a 3, I say.
The number of ribs is a non-issue.
The earth orbits the sun in the 'Goldilocks zone'. Life would never have begun on the earth if conditions were not optimal.
There's a perfect cycle of water, and basically a circle of life also.
Gee. You didn't even engage three neurons to "research" that one, did you? And maybe you want the Nobel prize for that brilliant analysis?
"If we were but just a little farther away, we'd freeze to death, but a bit closer and we'd be burned alive."
What's 5 million kilometers (difference between the greatest and smallest distance to the sun in 1 year) among friends...
Nutz:
The bible claims no such thing as far as I know. It was the people reading it that decided that women have more ribs.
Hey! This doesn't belong on the main page!
Sure, this guy is a ignorant fundy, but he's obviously capable of doing his own research AND questioning inerrant authority figures like his mum... there's hope for him yet!
Whoa, this is a first! I have never heard of a fundie retracting an idiotic statement. Normally, they claim they said something else, or continue to assert the original was the truth regardless of the facts in front of them.
Since human ribs can regenerate, there isn't even a theological reason, much less a scientific one, why men would have one less rib.
Dear _g,
70% of the planet surface is undrinkable water. Of the land area: 1/4 is tundra or covered in ice, 1/4 is desert or near desert (if not more), and the surface sits on top of a molten mass that as it cools and the crust if affected there are earthquakes and other related geological events, etc. Well, gee! How totally perfect is all of that?
I'm sure you're also aware of the situation with our sun. If we were but just a little farther away, we'd freeze to death, but a bit closer and we'd be burned alive.
earth isn't the only planet in the solar system, it is posable that mars at one point sustained microorganism. In my mind this more or less points to random chance for earths position being able to sustain life.
It's called Quantum Immortality.
We don't need to be burning or freezing for our theory to work. In fact, it is more likely that we occurred because our overall design is suited to this temperature. Were we further away, something like polar bears may have evolved, or closer, more tropical-type animals living near the poles.
And the circle of water sucks.
What fucking kinds of people are you putting in charge of anatomy classes down there? Fundie theological natural health consultant sounds more accurate. Or Hack, Huckster or Fraud to be more precise.
This "one less rib" myth is directly related to your churchs and the astounding ignorance one gets when associating with fantasy peddlers.
Scientists certainly do NOT adhere to the "too perfectly and too complex" scam. That's creationist dogma, we're not even near perfect, nothing is in the end as perfect is a unatainable, undefined and relative concept. "Too Complex" is just a limiting label, designed only as a wedge between what we know and understand and what we don't yet know.
Some people have a pair of ribs extra or lesser than average. So what's the "perfect" amount of ribs? Are those with an extra pair more complex than you or I?
Ask your pastor that one after you apologize to IRELAND BOY for bearing false witness.
Nobody is saying that it was formed by chance; evolution is more "trial and error" than "chance".
The Northern hemisphere is in the process of moving just a little closer to the sun, while the Southern hemisphere is moving just a little farther away from it.
Oh, there is hope for humanity; this dolt did research and found he was wrong. Maybe he ought to do a little research into that too perfect body as well...?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
