If DNA is simple, then why does it take some of our most advanced equipment in order to even study it in the first place?
'Cuz it's simple, but it's small
DNA has a few simple parts, and operates by a few simple rules.
Genetics, like any system with only a few simple parts, a few basic rules of interaction, resources, some room and time to grow, rapidly mutates into something extraordinarily complex and intricate.
Kind of like how a single, simple math equation can make something like this:

Evolution is a “mental hiding place” to deny God’s proper place in our lives.
Actually, it's only an explanation for how the natural world around us came to possess such dizzying complexity, and how the organims around us--including ourselves--came to assume our present forms. But don't let that stop you from pretending that scientists are godless, rebellious heathens with an axe to grind against God, morals and decency. I'm sure you won't.
He is our Maker and we each have the choice of making Him our Lord.
And you still can. Evolution doesn't rule out an ultimate architect. Actually, I suppose modern cosmology doesn't, either. You don't HAVE to have one to make them work, mind you, you can't prove the existence of one either, and as a result some don't feel compelled to believe in one, but that's what faith is for, right?
All it does rule out is a literalist interpretation of the Bible, biblical inerrancy, and the assumption that God is a giant old white guy with a long beard in a robe sitting on a throne on a cloud somewhere in the sky.
