It does not frighten me.
I just find it impossible to bring myself to believe that I was brought into existence by unguided natural forces. It is a logical impossibility with a probability of absolute zero.
The forces driving the evolutionary process may appear to be unguided, but there is evidence in our own brains that conscious will can interact with natural elements to bring about human creativity. The Bible tells us that we are made in God's image, which indicates the source of our creative ability.

That is just your own personal opinion. It carries no intellectual validity whatsoever.
"It is a logical impossibility with a probability of absolute zero."
Show me the mathematics of this probability.

While you are right about the unguided bit, do you really believe you can consciously will; creativity? I know I've tried and failed miserably. But perhaps that's just me.

The Bible is a book. From that has come many thousands of denominations and sects, each claiming to be the True Christian Church. Each of these has God agreeing with their interpretation of the Bible. Even as a very young man it was clear to me that God did not make man in his image, it was the other way around.

Wonder how AB would react to being told that if 23 random people gather together, there's a 50% chance that at least two of them were born on the same date.
Yet here you are, Alan, so the probability of you being here is proven to be 1. I think your grasp of the concept of very large numbers of events over very large numbers of years is weak, so does that mean your "faith" is weak too? The fact that you can't believe it doesn't make it untrue.
@ Malingspann
At my department at work, we are four people, two of which are born the same day (but not the same year).
@ AB
You do exist, so the probability of it is 1.
Are there forces driving the evolutionary process? Do you mean survival instinct and drive to procreate? If so, yeah, they are pretty unguided.
How does conscious will interact with natural elements? What is the evidence in our own brains for this?
"Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban" tells us that Dementors suck the happiness out of people, which indicates the source of our depressions and feelings of hopelessness.
I'd say man made gods in our own image, which, btw, indicates quite a bit of creative ability.

Too bad. The good thing about reality is that it does not give a single f*ck about your beliefs. As opposed to your religion and fictional god, who care more about it than any sane thing should.
And yet, I find it extremely easy to accept that I was as the result of gradual biological processes, on a planet that came to being as the result of two proto-planets colliding 4.5 billion years ago; that happening around ten billion years after a cosmic accident .
But then, scientific fact does that to people; even the RCC admit the Big Bang is fact .
As do the Church of England:

Certainly re. Evolution.
So what's your problem, Al. ?
I just find it impossible to bring myself to believe that I was brought into existence by unguided natural forces.
You will find that the title of "Forces of Nature" are rather generous when describing your parents.
It is a logical impossibility with a probability of absolute zero.
I'd say that the probability that your parents fucked each other is pretty close to 100%.
The forces driving the evolutionary process may appear to be unguided
Evolution isn't unguided. It's guided by natural selection: those that fit their environment the least well, die off, and those that have a viable survival strategy pass this on to their progeny.
The Bible tells us that
Let me stop you right there. No thinking person should takt eh word of a Holy anything as truth. "Holy" just means you can't criticize it by convention. "Why not? Because you're not!"
"Holy" notions should be dissected to bits and the lies discarded, like any other idea, and it's status as "Holy" should not be used as a shield to protect these ideas.
I just find it impossible to bring myself to believe that I was brought into existence by unguided natural forces.
Why is it so impossible, when you believe that you were brought into existence by supernatural forces?
The Bible also says that bats are birds & that the city of Tyre was utterly destroyed & never rebuilt.
Sorry, but I'll trust science any day.
If anything your God would limit our creativity with his stupid rules and especially your controlling church dogma. Let's see if you can creatively goosestep outta that Alan.
Your God controls everything and foresees everything (According to clowns like you) so the next 'Stairway to Heaven', 'Bohemian Rhapsody' or 'War pigs' is just on his fucking calendar,, Right?
Confused?
