I didn't answer the question because Japanese internment camps have nothing to do with this. They were citizens, these people are enemy combatants. But, for the record, no. Most Japanese weren't a threat and it was largely paranoia after Pearl Harbor.
Back to the subject. Yes, I can explain why they were held and are now being released. They were a threat to the US when they were captured. Simple.
