Several religions are adopting the views of science. How can a non-religious thing become part of a religion?

Also, if those who are at the head of scientific things were remotely worried about science becoming a religion, they would not allow the mixing of the two. But I have yet to hear anyone complain in any written form to any religion that has done this. Which tells me that science, through evolution, wants to become as powerful as any religion.

When are you guys gonna wake up? What quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, is a duck. Or did science 101 teach you that? Because denying what is happening right in front of your eyes, is only denying what the truth of the situation is. For I challenge anyone to come up with a recent written letter by those who would control science and it's direction. Where they denied a religion from adapting to it's views of origins that science currently has.

Wait a minute ... he's saying that because religions have backed down on the parts of their dogma that science has utterly demolished, science is now a religion?
If the WTF Award hadn't already been handed out, I'd say this was a contender. It also shows his ignorance to say "those who are at the head of scientific things ... would not allow" religions to agree with them ... to the extent that there is such a figurehead in science (which there really isn't ... no one man or even group can control the direction of science as a whole), I think they'd be very happy to see people understanding the reality of our world. Another major distinction from religion right there: religious nuts want to have a monopoly on the truth, science wants it out there for everyone. I'd be more worried if scientists told religious folks, "Sorry, that's our idea, we're not going to let you believe that" - that'd be acting more like a religion.

I have a Duck call, and it quacks an awful lot like a duck. Science has been proving religion wrong since, well, since the dawn of religion, and religion has always tried to supress it, and they have been failing and backtracking for a while. At vatican II the catholic church finally accepted the heliocentric theory, and pardoned Galileo, posthumously, for proving it in the first place. It is inevitable that as long as people practice science, it will replace religion. Science offers the actual explanation for many things; religion offers possible explanations for what we don't know scientifically. Simple math, since the amount of knowledge that can be known is finite and constant (there is a limit to what we as the human race can know, we just don't know where that limit is), we can say that TotalKnowledge=KnownKnowlede(Science)+UnknownKnowledge(religion), so, as Known Knowledge increases, since Total knowledge doesn't change, Unknown Knowledge must decrease.

Pfffft. When "On the Origin of Species" was first published, it sold more than the Bible at that time. PROTIP: In his early years, Charles Darwin was in training to join the Church of England's clergy. Post-discoveries right to his death, he was an agnostic.

So care to explain this?:

In Westminster Abbey, the central place of worship of the Church of England; he is one of only five non-royalty people buried & memorialised there. Or this:

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has final power of veto over any design of coins/banknotes shown to her by the Royal Mint (for her opinions, ideas for improvements, changes etc) for her approval prior to being brought into circulation, as they bear her likeness on such (natch). She is the head of the Church of England; 'Defender of the Faith', and all that jazz.

So how - and why - was he buried where he is, and his image used on the back of our £10 note, if his world-changing, nay, paradigm-shifting & even potentially faith-destroying discoveries and theories posed such a threat to religion?

Here's a clue: the Church of England embraced Darwin's discoveries; also Queen Elizabeth didn't veto the Royal Mint's idea for his image on our currency. And why? Because the Church of England & it's members openly admit that much of the Bible is purely fable & metaphor; as in not to be taken literally.

The C-of-E - and it's monarch head - can easily reconcile science with religion. Because they're secure in their faith.

They know Evolution is fact. Because the evidence exists.

Moral: If scientific facts threaten your membrane-thin 'faith', then your 'faith' isn't worthy of existing, and deserves to be annihilated by scientific fact.
