Nowhere in the Bible is the name "Allah".

Nor does it mention Deus, Jumala, Theos, Kami or Gott... unless you're reading a translation in each name's respective language.
There are such things as other languages, you know.
These dipshits don't seem to understand this little thing called "language", do they? Allah is the Arabic word for "god". I've heard many muslims use the word "god" in place of "allah". This is like saying "No where in the English dictionary is the word 'bonjour', so this proof it doesn't exist!"
'course, I think Islam, Christianity, and all religion is bullshit, but this is still an idiotic argument.
ixolite: You're being pedantic. Regardless of the literal translation, the meaning is still the same.
Nowhere in the Bible is the name "Allah".
Nowhere in the Bible is the name "Beeblebrox"....
....but I'm gonna haunt your sweat-soaked nightmares anyway.
Sleep tight, f***er.
Allah is not the name of their deity. Nor is god the name of yours. You use these words because you're not supposed to use your god's name in vain, or something like that.
Doesn't Yahweh mean something like "He who must not be named", anyway? And that would mean he's really Voldemort! NOOOOOO!!
Not in an English language version of the bible. But, you know what, the original versions of the bible did not have the word god anywhere either; as the original books were written in Hebrew and Greek.
So, whatever attempt you were making at argument failed.
JonnyTruant:
If I remember right, "Yahweh" is a common English pronunciation of YHWH, which means "I am that am," or something similar. It's used tons of times in the Hebrew texts.
I could be wrong, but I don't think God is referred to as "Yahweh" OR "YHWH" in any English translation. Therefore, ZOMG he doesn't exist!
This also means... Unless you call him YHWH or whatnot, saying "Oh my god" or "God damn" isn't taking his name in vain. NEENER NEENER!
The word "God" doesn't appear in the original Hebrew and Greek either. Hmm...
In fact, the Bible doesn't use the word "Dios" for God either, maybe we should worry about the salvation of our Spanish-speaking friends...
Yes. Allah is simply Arabic for God. Arab Christians say Allah, just like their Muslim counterparts. This is laughable ignorance...as usual.
"Nowhere in the Bible is the name "Allah"."
Nowhere in the Qur'an is Yahweh, so there. Both of your religions have invalidated the other by proving your gods (who are, apparently, the same god anyway...) doesn't exist.
This reminds me of the split between the Roman Catholics and the Eastern Orthodox where each Church excommunicated the other. Amusing, but stupid.
Yeah, none of these are in the English Bible either.
French: Dieu
German: Gott
Hungarian: Isten
Italian: Dio
Javanese: Gusti
Romanian: Dumnezeu
Serbian: Bog
Spanish: Dios
Surinamese: Gado
Easy peasy.
Think of Elohim (incidentally a female noun with a masculine PLURAL ending - how about that any transexuals on the board!) Elohim is Hebrew. oth are Semitic languages and closely related.
Arabic is a cousin language - lots of words the same or very close - Shalom> Salaam; Vered>Ward; Beit>Beit; Ben/Ibn or Bin; Ema>Umm - and so forth. Now this should have alerted you to what comes next:
El/Elohim is God in Hebrew. Allah, in Arabic is two words, more correctly transliterated Al-lah. Al is the definite article 'the' Lah is God. The definite article in Old Hebrew would have been 'Hal' so the god would have been hal El. Inlater language it would Ha El. Arabic lost the H and Hebrew lost the L - a little bit of evolution, linguistically.
So, nothing to do with names. And beware. God preserved Ishmael when he and his mother were dying of thirst in the desert. Ishmael is the great-granddaddy of the Arabs, if you bother to read you bible.
Grammatical inflection has shit to do with human gender ideas. You might as well call them 'A' and 'B' or 'cat' and 'dog'.
And, ORLY? http://www.arabicbible.com/bible/doc_bible.htm It's probably in there as much as it is in yours, in English.
You know why? Because the Bible wasn't written in Arabic. But "Elohim" shows up quite a bit, and it's very closely related etymologically.
Microraptor:
Not exactly. It's actually the most widely accepted guess as to how it's supposed to be pronounced; nobody, of course, is 100% sure, since the ancient Jews went out of their way to make sure the pronunciation wasn't remembered. But it's the best guess.
Sofia: ixolite is not being pedantic. "Allah" literally means "the god" and refers to a specific deity, whereas "ilah" simply means god, much like there is a difference between "God" and "god". Also, it certainly does not mean "I am God" or "I am He" as anonymous_troy suggested.
Well yeah, but if we can't translate languages then the name 'Jesus' doesn't appear in the original (Old and New) either.
Not that I can reproduce the Greek characters, but they sure weren't pronounced with a North American accent, which is AT LEAST as far from the original as "Hey-zoos" is.
Nowhere in the Bible is the name Latasha, so is it a sin to call your children that?
Personally, I think it should be.
Oh for fuck's sake. Note to self - don't surf FSTDT just before school starts. It reminds me of the absolute ignorant, moronic, stupidity I have to deal with on a daily basis at times and I just want to quit my job before it even starts again for the year.
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Qaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in guerrilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.
Confused?
