[on a woman's Buddhist parents living with her and teaching the children about Buddhism]
Your husband must be a pansy to allow your parents to live under his roof and teach his children lies. I would have sent them packing after one week. It is time for you to obey the first commandment and leave your father and mother. Honor them by occasional phone calls and rare visits. Send email pictures of the children growing up. But honor God and your husband first.

The Buddhist culture is based on a false worldview, not a true, Biblical worldview. It is not just an alternate culture that is to be respected as part of our tolerance for today’s growing list of politically correct “diversities”. It is a tragic lie that enslaves men and guarantees eternal darkness.
Now you know. Thanks for asking.

"The Buddhist culture is based on a false worldview, not a true, Biblical worldview."
And you know frickin everything, don't you?
The first commandment states "Thou shalt have no other gods before the LORD."
Since Buddhism has NO gods, shouldn't that be acceptable?
Your husband must be effing nuts to allow you to live under his roof and teach his children lies. I would have sent you packing after one week. It is time for you to grow the eff up and listen to your father and mother. Honor them by occasional phone calls and rare visits. Send email pictures of the children growing up. But honor intelligence and reason first.

The Buddhist culture is based on a different worldview, not a myopic, Biblical worldview. It is not just an alternate culture that is to be respected as part of our tolerance for today’s growing list of politically correct “diversities”. Thanks for asking.
Typos fixed.
First Commandment: Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
The problem with this, in the situation above (and what makes it all the more amusing)is that Buddhism does not have a god.
That's right, Buddhism is an atheistic religion.
It's like Hinduism, without the gods.
So, the first commandment does not apply, as this clown clearly wishes to imply.
I suggest he read something other than the Bible. Being a sadistic asshole (and based off earlier entries from Mr. Pearl), I'd start him off with with books on feminism.
Out of curiosity, how is she supposed to honour her husband, yet get the satanic Buddhist inlaws out?
And it isn't really nice to call someone else's husband a 'pansy'.
Better watch out for those war-starting, power mongering, attachment seeking Buddhi--wait, sorry, I thought I was in bizarro land for a moment.
Riiight, keeping people from even knowing that other ways of life exist is "keeping them from being enslaved."
And war is peace, and freedom is slavery.
Fucking big brother is watching, douche bag.
Yeah, that sounds like you're really 'honoring' them.
Really, is teaching about something that horrible? They can at least learn what Buddhism is. Unlike this jack-off.
"To top it all off, he changes her name takes her out of the family, and erases all traces of her lineage. Her children will not carry on your family name!"
This is what Pearl said in a post a couple of submissions back, but now he is saying to ditch the parents. Inconsistent at the very least.
@Hadron: Hey, thanks! Now I know what this asshole looks like so I can avoid him should we ever unfortunately run into each other. Also, I think this is the first fundie I've ever seen that actually looks like a fundie.
Teach the children peace and love rather than divine wrath and eternal hellfire. Teach them to respect both sexes and not to treat females as commodities. Yeah, thats really evil. STFU* Pearl. You talk out of your ass.
*Third time today I've used that. A lot of people really need to shut up, or I need a new insult.
I see the horrible struggle in this guy trying not to sound as if he's inviting her to break the fourth commandment. Because, of course, if the parents were fundy and the husband a buddhist, the answer would be different.
Oh yes, Pearl's view of the world. I wonder what he's say or do if one of his kids became a Buddhist. Would he disown that child?
Yes, that was a rhetorical question; I think we all know the answer to it.
Ha! This shows how flawed the Bible(which should have a disclaimer telling that it's a metaphor) is! Aren't you supposed to love thy neighbor? Well, that crappy, 2000 year old book also says to kill gays! What if your neighbor was gay? >:) CREATIONISTS ARE CRAZY! Besides, Buddhism has lots of followers, many of whom can easily outsmart those corrupt fundies!
It looks like FSTDTers might benefit from a little bit more research into Buddhism -- it's not necessarily atheistic, and some denominations include impressively large numbers of gods.
Of course, Michael Pearl is still crazy.
You know, perhaps you should examine your own WEAK belief in God, Mike. Sounds like you consider your God to be a PANSY who can't stand up for himself. That husband has 100 times the faith in God that you do. His faith is so strong that he doesn't feel threatened by his children learning about another religion because he knows he has shared that strong faith with his children and knows that they may strengthen their own faith by learning about other's beliefs. You must not have that strong a faith in your ability to impart your faith to your children if think that their faith is so weak that it will not withstand introduction to loved ones of another faith! What a poor example of a strong Christian belief you must appear to your kids.
This Pearl guy is a true piece of art.
He talks about how he bullied his kids, tried to trick and humiliate them, and then must be grateful for the fact that they don't beat shit out of him now he's older.
He must be hoping that they don't put him in a shit home once he starts drooling
The worthless, bullshit, superstitious, moronic, shit xtian culture is based on a false world view.
There. Conceptual and grammatical errors fixed.
Yeah just cut off from relatives that believe other things and never let your kids learn about their culture. That's just great. Doesn't another religion do this? Scientology?
Also I wonder if this person even knows what Buddhism teaches.
Your husband must be a pansy to allow your parents to live under his roof and teach his children lies.
Correction "their roof...their children"
The Buddhist culture is based on a false worldview
So does christianity in many forms.
I read the Gospel of Thomas lately, thanks to Eden for the keyword (Nag Hammadi), and I can only say that this gives an extremely rational and human depiction of Jesus' message.
(Man =/= myth =/= message)
From the perspective of Platonic and Buddhist philosophies, it strikes me as very agreeable. (Buddha still recognized Brahma, iirc.)
Quite different from the poisonous ratshit of Pearl.
As a Buddhist myself, let me add a few things:
1) Buddhism is as varied as any other religions. Some variants recognize a number of "gods" while others recognize no god.
2) The Buddha likely would bid me to try to understand the fears that drive people like Michael Pearl to be so idiotic and mean, and remind me to be compassionate.
3) Although I am a zen Buddhist, I never claimed to be particularly good at it ... so part of me hopes this fundie fucktard gets fucked up the ass with broken bottles wielded by gay Buddhists.
Your husband must be a pansy to allow your parents to live under his roof and teach his children lies
Or maybe he's just not an asshole?
I would have sent them packing after one week.
Being the nice Christian you are.
It is time for you to obey the first commandment and leave your father and mother
Now I'm thinking poe.
The "first commandment" he's referring to has nothing to do with the Ten Commandments. He means the first commandment god ever gave man, i.e. "Leave your folks and live with your spouse" (my paraphrase). By letting her parents live with her, she's disobeying this "commandment".
Seriously. He needs to learn to respect other cultures. "My parents live with me because that's the way my culture has been for the last x thousand years." "Nevermind that, your husband's a pansy and you're disobeying god. Tell your parents to GTFO or your children will be doomed!"
Commandment 1: Honor thy father and mother, unless they're acknowledging another religion, in which case kick the fucks out. One call at Christmas time and a visit every five years or so will suffice then.
And how do you know your biblical worldview is the "One True Worldview"? What if you're wrong?
Have you examined every one of the thousands of Christian world views and every one of the thousands of other religions?
When considering yours and every other religion-they all can't be correct; they can, however, all be wrong.
It is a tragic lie that enslaves men and guarantees eternal darkness
It was Christianity that brought us the Dark Ages you idiot. Also Eternal Darkness is an awesome game
All I really get from this is Michael Pearl knows less about Buddhism than he does about raising kids. And if I am not mistaken he is an abusive asshole
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
