[Why does god care if we believe in him? As long as we are good and follow what would be considered christian morals, does it matter to him?]
well if u loved dogs lets say and then u went out a bought a few, then u brought them home and they payed completely no attention to you crapped everywhere, u would call them and they dont look, listen or move- id bet you'd care alittle. right? kinda same way

Not quite.
It would be as if I created the dogs and, rather than worship me, they went about living their lives and being good to each other.
Or something like that.
Anyway it's bullshit, and Batman wants his nickname back.
Actually darknights, your claim is basically this:
you suddenly showed up and tell a pack of wild dogs to beg for food and drag your sled, and are feeling angry and insulted that they don't care or believe you when you say they HAVE to do this because your dead mother came to you in a dream and told you she'd bought'em for you. I mean, such BAD dogs, not listening to your claims! Even this pamphlet you wrote says your mom told you this!
And now you're threatning them with torture and thinking that'll make them believe you?
Er, no, darknights, that's not what they're saying. That analogy might be closer to holding if the person to whom you are responding had said "as long as we are bad and follow what would be considered rude and filthy patterns of behaviour".
MK: Best corny puns I have heard for weeks now.
Oh, and as for the, erm, "creative" analogy: You'd be stupid to buy dogs if you couldn't train them properly. :P
Conclusion? Ceasar Milan > Your God
That's a very stupid analogy. In your scenario, the fault lies with the dog owner, not the dogs. Just as, if God were real, the mess humanity and the world are in would be his fault.
I guess God must not be a cat person. We're used to being ignored. Not to mention used to animals that don't look, listen, move, or indeed display life signs until they're good and ready.

Dogs don't generally ignore you for no reason. It has a lot to do with the attention, attitude, and emotions you invest in them throughout their life. If I hid in the attic and let dogs fend for themselves on my property while never really letting them know that I existed, I wouldn't hold it against them if I suddenly came down to see them one day and they didn't know or care who I was. However, if I fed them, talked to them, patted them, gave them encouragement, love, and face time then it would be a completely different matter. When your god suddenly starts doing those things you can then return to your anology. As is, I suspect you belong on the Teens-4-Christ forum, but I wouldn't put it past an adult fundie to spell like you and think that what you said made any sense.
No, no, no. You're sheep, not dogs. Bloody fundies can't even remember which animal they're supposed to be ...
Actually, the analogy works quite well (but not the way darknights intended) i.e., god is an abusive pet owner who accumulates lower life forms and then fails to interact with them so they have no reason to even acknowledge him, let alone obey him.
am i to understand, darknights, that you think an adequate response to a puppy that doesn't want to play with you is burning that puppy alive in an eternal, neverending torture chamber? you are as sick as your god, and you both belong in a psych ward.

I understand what he's saying, and I agree, that'd be hurtful. But if the dogs didn't believe in me, it'd be a simple matter of showing myself to them , not sitting where they can't see me and being angry at them for ignoring a person whose existence they're unaware of in the first place.
Want my love, Yahweh? Come see me. I live in Bergen, Norway, in the brown house overlooking Fanafjorden. If I'm not home, drop back at a later hour. It's that simple.
The basis was that we ARE good and follow the rules, but don't worship any god.
The basis for the dog analogy must then also be that they are good and follow the rules, but they don't worship me.
Actually, having dogs is a bit like being god and having devout followers.
Having cats is more like your other scenario; cats see us as servants, can openers and door openers. They might obey a command if it suits them, but not because we say so. They pee and poop in their litter-box because it is in their genes, it's not to please us.
These hypothetical dogs of yours could not be any worse at spelling or grammar than you are.
Or logic. Fundies really should stay clear of analogies. All they ever manage to do is shoot themselves in the foot (although the head would be better), although at least they provide plenty of ammunition for us.
the analogy for the size and power compairison is WAY off, fundies have absolutely NO grasp on the size of the universe, yet they say god is bigger than the universe as a whole
so if that were true the BEST compairison would be what if you found out there was a colony of microbes living in a puddle of water on a planet somewhere in alpha centauri that worshipped you as a god, honestly would you really give a rats ass about them? and even then the analogy I presented is STILL off by an order of magnitude of several billion, I believe if there is a deity, then by its very definition we would be completely beneath its notice
"well if u loved dogs lets say and then u went out a bought a few, then u brought them home and they payed completely no attention to you crapped everywhere, u would call them and they dont look, listen or move- id bet you'd care alittle. right? kinda same way"

Use of bad analogy. Unless of course, you want to admit that God is in fact a Dog, and acknowledge in the sane way that cats are deities too. After all...:
In ancient Egypt, cats were worshipped as Gods (Bastet, Sekhmet). They never forgot this.
