[the thread is titles "If Space Has no then..."]
I had a question which I was hoping God centered christians could help me answer and not my silly physical science teacher.
I used to believe in the big bang because it reaked of Divine Intervention. Out of nothing a gigantic blast and suddenly there was TONS of stuff, surely there MUST be God. However, I recently put two and two together and realize this can't be true. There is no air in space, and flame requires oxygen to burn. There can't BE an explosion in space!
Does this make sense to anyone else or am I missing something fundamental?

It wasn't an explosion, but an expansion. Probably caused by uneven forces in a tightly packed singularity.
So yes, you were missing something fundamental. Hope I helped.
Explosion =/= flame.
Diffusion did it.
Well... I suppose its logical, if uninformed. I mean, if your basis is fail, your conclusion cannot be other than fail.
yep - missing something fundamental.
Equally strange, is the idea that Rapture Ready is the place to ask questions like this......
"Does this make sense to anyone else or am I missing something fundamental?"
Yes, its called astrophysics.
Does this make sense to anyone else or am I missing something fundamental?
I assume that all other people on rapture ready will applaud you for your eloquent refutation of the big bang.
Everyone with at least slight knowledge in astrophysics and other sciences will however tell you, that you are missing something fundamental, something which is called fundamental knowledge in these matters ;-)
But to tell you a little secret:
Normally there are public courses and lectures in astronomy and astrophysics where you can take part (and also ask questions). So if you don´t shy away from this effort (like most religious fundamentalists do) you might be able to replace ignorance with knowledge.
"I used to believe in the big bang because it reaked of Divine Intervention. Out of nothing a gigantic blast and suddenly there was TONS of stuff, surely there MUST be God."
It wasn't "nothing" you imbecile.
"However, I recently put two and two together and realize this can't be true."
Oh, good. Write up your paper, document your experiments and show your evidence. The cosmologists of the world would be more than happy to review it for you. If you're right you'll even win a Nobel Prize.
"There is no air in space, and flame requires oxygen to burn. There can't BE an explosion in space!"
Holy fuck. Scratch that last bit.
Actually, no. Go ahead and write your paper and send it to the cosmologists. I'm sure they could use the laugh.
"Does this make sense to anyone else or am I missing something fundamental?"
That's certainly one way to put it.
Except for the "silly science teacher" part, this is not really fundie. He asks a question about a common misconception about the Big Bang. I'm going to be nice and not make fun of him.
... Though, really, one has to be kinda stupid to think that there would be such obvious flaws in a largely accepted theory.
EDIT: Hey! Although the sites look awfully similar, this isn't from Rapture Ready!
Yeah you are definitely missing something, like common sense to ask that question of those death cult loonytoons. The people at Rapture Ready don't even read their freaking Bibles and put incredible amounts of crazy nonsense in there that isn't Scriptural, so what the hell kind of equally crazy shit do you think they're going to put into science books that they haven't read that isn't scientific? Your science teacher may be silly, but I bet he's not making up crazy shit from a nineteenth century scam artist and trying to pass it off as true religion from the 1st century AD like RR members and their "rapture"(FOUND NOWHERE IN THE BIBLE) horsemanure.
What? God *can't* make an explosion in space??
WARNING: God is no longer omnipotent! If He was, the big-bang might be true! Therefore, so we can keep attacking science, God now has limitations.
It only makes sense to other dimwits and, yes, you are missing several things, perhaps a frontal lobe.
I was gong to go on about hydrogen and stars and the release of heavy elements from thoses stars but why bother ..
You got it fundie..
God casued the big bang
from his omni potent ass, with a mighty godly humongous fart the universe was brought forth and with holey grunt he shit out the rest of the mater. . a cosmic phenomenon know to some has the big bang..This fart still echos across the universe and can still be be heard by all those who believe
.
There is no air in space, and flame requires oxygen to burn.
Someone should rush out to the center of our solar system and let Sol know it can't possibly do what it seems to be doing.
Does this make sense to anyone else or am I missing something fundamental?
Oh, you're certainly missing something. Keep looking; you'll eventually figure it out.
"There is no air in space"
There must be, there's an air n space museum...
- credit to Homer Jay Simpson
Yeah, those physical science teachers spew out all of that silly mythology stuff..theyre so silly!! Go speak to a god centered Christian, they know whats real in their hearts..nothing can beat the feeling of "truthiness".
"If Space Has no then..."
Am I the only one who fucking LOLd at this thread title? You really can't expect Einstein material from a guy who titles his thread "If Space Has no then". If space has no WHAT you fucking moron?
You know, I could understand a kid asking this question if he just learned about combustion reactions and the Big Bang. Heck, I would even consider it a good question since it at least shows that the kid is trying to understand more than just what's written in the textbook. If he wasn't so goddamn arrogant I would explain to him where he went wrong.
"or am I missing something fundamental?"
Yes you are. It wasn't an explosion IN space, it was an explosion OF space.
Let's see. Either you're
-Smarter than every other scientist that's ever critically examined the BBT and YOU ALONE have singlehandedly figured out why it doesn't work
or
-An idiot that has no idea what he's talking about
Now let me give that a think...
Does this make sense to anyone else or am I missing something fundamental?
Well, if it makes sense to the Church of England, to the extent that they would bury & memorialise in Westminster Abbey this person...:
image
...then there's something missing from your fundamental ist mind: an excuse .
Or just a mind .
Confused?
