Have you ever wondered why you aren't as immoral as you could be? Theres only one reason why. The grace of God has hindered you. If God were to pull back from you...no..let's make you feel better about this...if God were to pull back from me COMPLETELY, I'd be the most hideous, grotesque monster you have ever seen and I would make Hitler look like a saint. God even restrained Hitler did you know that? He loved his mother. If God were to pull away from him completely he would have been much worse.

Well, then, so much for free will. I guess it must be God's fault, then, when anybody sins at all, since he constantly prevents us from doing worse and could easily have prevented that as well.
Why do you suppose God would be so evil as to allow us to sin at all, then, especially since the only definition of "sin" is to commit offenses against the will of God? And if your head does not yet hurt from contemplating the questions embedded there, you really have not even started thinking this through yet.

Have you ever wondered why you aren't as immoral as you could be?
No, but I'll bet you have a stupid speculation regarding that.
Theres only one reason why.
Set up for a gross oversimplification, I'll bet.
The grace of God has hindered you.
Bang on! A stupid inaccurate gross oversimplified answer.
If God were to pull back from you...no..let's make you feel better about this...if God were to pull back from me COMPLETELY, I'd be the most hideous, grotesque monster you have ever seen and I would make Hitler look like a saint.
Ah yes, the ol' Calvinist humans are completely evil theology. The real fact is that human societies just don't function without some measure of morality. Natural selection adequately explains why we are not immoral.
God even restrained Hitler did you know that?
Great job He did on that one! With friends like that ...
He loved his mother.
Yee ha.
If God were to pull away from him completely he would have been much worse.
You know, there are things called:
SELF CONTROL
&
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
These so-called "Christians" need to learn what they mean, and why they're so very important. When you have learned how to act like a human being instead of a dumb animal, perhaps you will be able to see exactly why your statement is so incredibly ludicrous.
Nice ethics. So, are you justifying all those Romans, Greeks, Sumerians.........even Jewish who commited all that atrocities because they hadn´t met Jesus?, very nice. You´re confirming that the immature asshole without morals is you.
Another one claiming that his belief in God is the only thing that prevents him from turning into Charles Manson. This is the kind of guy who, after a half-dozen long necks, forgets God and beats up a homosexual and ties him to a fence to freeze to death.
"Have you ever wondered why you aren't as immoral as you could be?"
No. I know what my ethical standards are and why I have them.
"Theres only one reason why. The grace of God has hindered you. If God were to pull back from you...no..let's make you feel better about this...if God were to pull back from me COMPLETELY, I'd be the most hideous, grotesque monster you have ever seen and I would make Hitler look like a saint."
That's too bad, because I have to inform you that God doesn't exist. He is imaginary. Now, sit down, take a deep breath, and try not to kill anyone, OK?.
"God even restrained Hitler did you know that?"
If your God was real, one would have to ask why God did such a shitty job of restraining Hitler? After all he did let 6 million+ people die in the holocaust.
"He loved his mother."
God had a mother?
"If God were to pull away from him completely he would have been much worse"
If your God is omnipotent, omniscient and omni-benevolent, why would he allow Hitler to cause the holocaust?
Face it, asianangel, either your God doesn't exist or he is a liar and a genocidal asshole.
I enjoy feeling like a good person. Not harming other people (or animals for that matter) supports my self-image as a good person. Causing harm is wrong and evil, and I don't need your evil sky fairy to tell me that.
Another CHINO, it seems. And talk about ego--more evil than Hitler?
What a pathetic view of humanity that is. Also, I have a bit of bad news for asianangel: I am a more moral person as an atheist than I was as a Christian, since I no longer believe in a magic sky daddy to kiss away all of the booboos.
I, if I may, would like to take the diametrically opposite view.
God tried to kill everyone and everything. No one else has ever done that.
One of the founding fathers said
"Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we call it the word of a demon than the word of god. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind."
Thomas Paine
Furthermore, examining the effect of religion upon man....
"Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction."
Blaise Pascal
"And so I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator. In standing guard against the Jew I am defending the handiwork of the Lord."
Adolph Hitler
"The Christian resolution to find the world ugly and bad has made the world ugly and bad."
Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche
"From fanaticism to barbarism is only one step."
Denis Diderot
"If we believe absurdities, we shall commit atrocities."
Voltaire
So let us fix your statement
Have you ever wondered why you aren't as immoral as you could be? Theres only one reason why. The greed of God hasn't entered you. If God were to immerse himself in you...no..let's make you feel better about this...if God were to immerse himself in me COMPLETELY, I'd be the most hideous, grotesque monster you have ever seen and I would make Hitler look like a saint. God only partially entered Hitler did you know that? He still loved his mother. If God were to enter him completely he would have been much worse."
huh?
Have you ever wondered why you aren't as immoral as you could be?
Nope.
Theres only one reason why.
Actualy there are a few reasons why
The grace of God has hindered you.
Nope, My own natural moral and ethical nature has guided me. plus my biological perogative to survival. plus my own compassion for my fellow life forms.
Try again
WWII, 50 million civilian and military deaths, 11 million in the holocaust alone, 6 million of which were Jews.
But he liked his mother! (allegedly)
Praise the lord! Yay God! Go big fella! Go Big fella! Yeah GOD!!!
I can just imagine...
Hitler: Ha! The Death Ray is complete! Time to blow those allies off the map! Hahah!
God: Whoa! Sorry Hitler, can't do that.
Hitler: What? Why not?
God: It's mean.
Hitler: But you let me murder millions of innocent men, women and children without raising a finger!
God: Uh...uh...oh...yeah...(God vanishes in a puff of logic)
Hitler: Now it is my time!
(Indiana Jones come out of nowhere, beats up Hitler and destroys the Death Ray.)
Whoa, whoa. I think you've got Hitler confused with Genghis Khan, who loved his mother and fought wars for her. Hitler hated his mother because, um, she was Jewish, and an affront to Jesus. Remember that part?
Ya know, I always kind of suspected that about these fundies, but this is the first one to actually come out and admit it. Without the fear of their mean sonofabitch of a God, they probably would go out and hurt people, instead of sitting inside slowly poisoning themselves like they do now.
So god supported Hitler killing 6 million Jews and others? Slaughtering the mentally ill, carrying out sick experiments on innocent children and conquering Europe, killing millions?
You go, god! I'm kinda glad I have my own mind then.
Yet more damning evidence that these fruitbaskets are genuinely dangerous. I'm not one for condoning violence or genocide, but can we at least put these people somewhere far, far away from the rest of us? They scare me, frankly...
^They're only doing it to hide their innate evil and lead more people away from the True Faith, that's how. (Yeah, I thought it sounded stupid too.)
I could be more immoral, but I'm too lazy.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
