I agree with Congressman Sali. Having a Muslim in office and a Hindu open Senate prayer shows just how far the people of America have fallen from the priciples of God's Word. Freedom of religion was to be able to worship the true God of heaven without the interference of government telling us how to. It was so we could worship the ONE true God, the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, and not the god of Ishmael, as Islam holds to, or one of the many gods of the Hindus. Yes, we are in the end times and the fight is between light and darkness, right and wrong, God and the devil. Those who choose God are on the winning side and will have the ultimate victory! Praise God!

The God of Ishmael is the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. Try reading your own Bible: "And as for Ishmael, I [the LORD] have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation." (Gen. 17:20)
Freedom of religion was to be able to worship the true God of heaven without the interference of government telling us how to.
You almost got it right: "Freedom of religion was to be able to worship the true God of heaven without the interference of government telling us how to."
Wow, you guys need to read the article she's commenting on. That congressman is a fucking nutjob. Well, not as nutty as the people that elected him. But still.
The only thing worse than the congressman's comments is the shit-storm of comments that people left. With the exception of one or two, all of them are "Amen, praise the lord, praise jeebus, the end is here, etc etc"
You fucking twats, read the Treaty of Tripoli
Operation Northwoods
NSPD 51
HSPD 20
Get educated my friends.
Mister Spak beat me to it.
A few of the commenters have a clue, but most of them show what's wrong with this country, and it isn't what Sali says.
Just. Shut. Up. You can't even fuckimg spell Isaac.
Oh, and Treaty of Tripoli, Bitch!
So you fundies will go so far as to force biblical prophecy to come true with your own hands in order to verify your claims? If the end times are here, it will by by your own hand that the world goes down in flames. The blood of millions of innocent people are already on these same hands. You know, the ones you so self righteously put together when you pray.
Would help if Freedom of Religion didn't work that way, or if the Islamic God wasn't the same God Christians worship.
Also, even if a religious war started, as all sides would claim that God is on their side, who would your "God" really support? Who is right and who is wrong? Personally, I'll go with the side that doesn't start the conflict.
But now a question about the first post:
"left wing liberal nuts" ?
What's that about?
Remember: the heavily religious members in most every country have been members of the right wing party. Thus if conflict over religion broke out, it would be almost exclusively between right wing sympathizers.
Please, wake up and look at what's really going on.
Whats really going on is the right and left of this country are all run by the same group of elitists and global bankers. It doesn't matter if its Clinton, Obama, Giuliani, or Romney, they all answer to the same master. Any rational person will ask themselves why o why does a private institution print our currency and loan it to the government at interest. Isn't that a lil absurd to you? Ron Paul 08. Only HE will abolish the "Federal" Reserve.
I find interesting that the same group of people who point to votes banning gay marriage as "the will of the people" are the quickest to decry the election of a Muslim Congressman in a public election.
Democracy would be so much better if people who disagreed with you didn't vote, right?
@pbaghosy If it were a theory than you would be correct. But lets stick to the facts. Fact #1 The Federal Reserve is a private institution that prints our currency and then lends it to our government at interest. Fact #2 Operation Northwoods is a recently declassified document from the '60's that promotes "false flag" terror attacks. Namely, orchestrating an act of terror acted out by the US government and blaming it on a foreign country in order to justify a war. Fact #3 NSPD 51 and HSPD 20 are presidential directives that literally take the power out of the hands of congress in a "state of emergency" and transfer it solely into the Executive branch and FEMA. Fact #4 The previously stated Facts #1-3 are irrefutable facts. While I have my own theory as to why these facts became factual, that would still fall into the realm of opinion. I welcome yours.
Jesus is listed as a prophet in the Koran, his mother has her own chapter in the book, and Arab Christians pray to Allah. You, the Jews and the Muslims have the same god. Get over it.
The SHeep: Since you have touched on what I do for a living, I will address your comments...
FEMA has always been the lead Federal agency in the event of an emergency. Their role is to coordinate response of NGO, local, state, and federal aid agencies.
That has nothing to do with Congress. Congress can (and will) continue to act in the event of an emergency, as will the Judiciary branch.
I love these "freedom of religion as long as it's my religion" types. I also love the fact that fundies view their God as such a helpless weinie that he can't defend himself from other viewpoints and has to be protected by outlawing other religious views. If their God is the ultimate power, then why are they so scared of other Gods getting a platform for discussion? Could it be that they are so weak in their own faith that they are scared they might lose in a fair debate?PS "Sheep" is the right name for you if you believe that GOP wannabe Ron Paul is a real Libertarian!
@Flipper At no time did I mention Ron Paul as a Libertarian. I said he is the only one of the candidates that will abolish The Federal Reserve, which is the privatized central bank that prints our currency. Please don't put words in my mouth.
@Eric the Blue I am interested in what you might do for a living, if you don't mind me asking. Just curious. As for your comments...NSPD-51/ HSPD-20 appears to supersede the National Emergency Act by creating the new position of National Continuity Coordinator without any specific act of Congress authorizing the position. The directive issued May 9 makes no attempt to reconcile the powers created there for the National Continuity Coordinator with the National Emergency Act. As specified by U.S. Code Title 50, Chapter 34, Subchapter II, Section 1621, the National Emergency Act allows that the president may declare a national emergency but requires that such proclamation "shall immediately be transmitted to the Congress and published in the Federal Register." NSPD-51/ HSPD-20 makes no reference whatsoever to Congress. The language of the May 9 directive appears to negate any a requirement that the president submit to Congress a determination that a national emergency exists, suggesting instead that the powers of the executive order can be implemented without any congressional approval or oversight.
"Yes, we are in the end times..."
20 years later....
"We are in the end times..."
50 years later....
"We are in the end times...."
100 years later....
"We are in the end times...."
Second verse same as the first.
@Flipper- You totally missed the point. His supporters could call him Space Alien Y from planet X for all I care. His voting record is still impeccable in relation to his words and ideals. And he IS the only candidate out there that will abolish the fed. However I do agree with you on the "Welfare for the Rich" taxcuts, but my negative views on the fed's private control of this economy far outweighs my concern of the former.
@Seamus D- Spammer? Do you even know what that word means? I'm politely exchanging facts and opinions on a forum you idiot. Last time I checked, thats not spamming. Wow. Educate yourself.
Word, sheep.
Freedom is Slavery. Peace is War. Ignorance is Power.
These kristians fall right into place. Too bad there are too damned many of them that will gladly act as cannon fodder when the time comes for the Rapture®
...If the aliens did come, we'd go to war with them because they'd be atheists/a different religion.
Dumbass fundies. They'd go to war with brilliant unstoppable but kind aliens.
I looove how the fundies now routinely claim Jews as their buddies and place them under the same umbrella with themselves as if they're the same religion. (See some of the other comments in that thread.)
A couple generations ago, similar fundies wouldn't have let a Jew into the same swimming pool with themselves.
I wouldn't be surprised if do the same revisionist garbage with Muslims at whatever future point the "clash of civilizations" has blown over and the rift between the Muslim and non-Muslim worlds has largely healed.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion
Not once does it ever mention Christ, Christianity, Jesus, or the bible. If i want to believe that the internet created us and the messiah was reached when man in turn created the internet, I can
Rachel, did you notice that you are asking the government to force people into their beliefs?, that if everybody can worship without the government interferring, that includes other religions or those who chose not to have one?, non-contradiction award?
Which part of "freedom of religion" don't you grasp? It does not mean "freedom to only practice my religion."
The God of Islam is the same dude as your God, moron, and the end times are a figment of your pitifully limited imagination.
Three facts that we repeat ad nauseum, but none of them ever seems to sink in.
When I hear "Muslim in office" I tend to jump right to Keith Ellison, who I know will cover my queer back better than the large majority of Christians and most of the agnostics in Congress. If that's what it means to be a Muslim politician in the U.S., then Allahu fuckin' Akbar and peace be upon us all.
I stupidly hoped that the first sentence would lead to something like "...how far the people of America has come towards freedom and equality."
How long are those end times, anyway? 2000 years? 5000?
Every religion has stolen so much from the mythology of the older ones, that they are basically just one and the same, the lot of them.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
