[In a thread asking Christians which gods they don't believe in, with the message that to an atheist, the Christian God is on the list, too]
All those Gods are false mine is true. Are those names mentioned in the Bible?

Terabyte, the god of computers, and Bill Gates, his prophet is not mentioned in the bible, either. But his presence makes the internets hum.
What about the evil blue screen of death? That's not mentioned in the bible either but it's true and it attacks you just when you get complacent.
Reality doesn't work that way.
I could equally say all those gods are false, Superman is the true god. He's powerful, and benevolent. Unlike yours, though, Supes hasn't killed thousands.
Actually, Baal, Astarte, and assorted other gods -do- get "mentioned" in the bible. Read some of the interesting bits of the OT, k?
The point! ever so high above he whom the quoter hath quoteth! Above the clouds, above his head, and above all...
this guy's a fucking idiot.

Depends on the language. "God" is mentioned only in English translations of the Bible. In the OT, He's called YHWH (Yahweh) or Elohim (El, Eloah, Elah). Arabic-speaking Christians call Him "Allah". Jesus, assuming he spoke Aramaic, would have called Him "Elah". Mathew, Mark, Luke, John and Paul, who wrote in Greek, called Him "Theos"
"Boy, I say, boy, they just keep on throwing in your wheelhouse and you keep missing." Who cares whether these guys are mentioned in the Bible or not? The point of this exercise is to name all the Gods that atheists do not accept as real, including your Christian God. It is a total sign of fundie Christian arrogance that you continue to miss the obvious point that these people do not just not believe in the Christian God, but Gods(and devils) of all religions past and present, and consider the ones in holy books just as fictional as the ones in obvious works of sci-fi and fantasy.
Well, the Christ mentioned Zoroaster in support of what he was telling John son of Zebedee. But Irenaeus didn't want certain ideas to be known, so that particular text never made it into the bible.
Baal is the only one I can think of, offhand.
Confused?
