I fear that the only way to defeat Islamic extremism in the West is for our atheistic society to convert back to Christianity

No, it would be better if Christians converted to atheism, or, if that's too bitter a pill to swallow, paganism.
Just kidding, I don't want you in a mile's breadth of anything resembling my spiritual practices. We've already got enough assholes.
How about we take all the xtian extremists/dominionists/white supremacists and all the muslim extremists; arm you all with swords (only) and set both sides in the middle of the Rub'al Khali
Let you fight to the death then we can drone strike the "winner".
Well, technically, Muslims are supposed to be tolerant and supportive of the "children of the book", while rejecting God is the major irredemable sin, just like in the New Testament.
Not that that makes much of a practical difference in the end. If fanatics want to kill you, they'll do it, regardless of what their book says or what draconian measures you've taken to shield yourself from their ire.
Erm, so the way to defeat Islamic extremism, is to build Christian extremism?
I'd say society ought to be atheistic, and religion or lack thereof ought to be a personal matter. Then we'd get rid of all extremism. Children should be taught about all the major religions in as unbiased a manner as possible, and once they are of age, they can choose whether to be religious or not, and which, if any, religion fits them best.
The only way to defeat Islamic extremism is with Christian extremism!
We already have enough paranoid right-wing nutjobs who are scared shitless of Syrian refugees and (frighteningly) are carrying guns everywhere. I expect to see more news stories of idiots taking pot shots at people who look like they came from the Middle East.
70% of Americans are Christians, how the hell is that an 'atheistic society'? If you're not a theocracy, you're an atheistic society, is that it?
@Insult to Rocks
Hell, extremists will want to kill you even if they don't have a holy book or central principles in the first place.
Hence the saying, "terrorism has no religion."
