So, we all know the demons who run the US government are setting up to communize the health care system, jumping on the bandwagon with all of socialist europe, canada, and asia. Aside from the fact that doing so would absolutely ruin the economy, and turn all health care into a bureaucratic nightmare worse than that of an HMO, I think this could actually be a subtle move towards setting us up to take the mark of the beast. The company that makes verichips are currently marketing it as a patient identification system for hospitals and hmo's to pull up a person's medical records on the spot just by scanning them. But only a few thousand people have accepted it so far and the industry is proving hard to break into, they are not getting many private contracts to sell their system. But once Barackus Muhammed Hussein Osama puts the hammer-and-sickle stamp of approval on the government takeover of health care, boom they can offer verichip a no-bid government contract to impliment the system, and also require that everyone who participates in communist health care comply with their identifaction system. Now, this doesn't invlove buying and selling, but it doesn't need to quite yet, because nothing says the mark of the beast will appear overnight. More likely, it will be gradually phased in over a span of a generation of two, just as the new world order is being slowly phased in over generations. Once they use it for health care, people will gradually become desensitized to the idea of using a chip for ID, then maybe a few years later banks will start using the system to hold your account information, playing on the whole identity theft fearmongering BS, then the government may require it for your ID, and with every new step it will become harder and harder to participate in society at all without it, until it becomes impossible. This is how I think it will happen. I'm sure there are already government infiltrators on this board who will now try to refute this.

If public run health services were such a great evil, why is it that Canadians, Britons and others who have adopted it would never allow a return to privatized for-profit health care?
If public services are the evil of communism, why don't the right wing reactionaries rail against the post office, public education, public police services, public fire services ... ?
SilentKoala ain't so silent.
Word salad, motherfucker.
Paranoia is strong in this thread.
Re-check your conclusions, Koala. I think you went off the rails there.
I know that in a democracy, everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, but...So many words, so little sense.
And they might force you to go to Starbucks, too!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, nooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(For those who don't know what I'm talking about, this is the organization which boycotts Starbucks because they think its corporate logo is that of a "slutty" half-human/half-alien prostitute with its legs spread apart in the air, or something like that. Look it up.)
And, "Barackus?" Where the hell did you get that? Do you think this is ancient Rome or something?
And remember capitalism is just so perfectly good and humane.
It solves every problem!
If you are poor, and can't get a job to buy food -- you die! Problem solved! Especially good since, if you also have kids, they can be sold, umm I mean adopted by people who can afford to abuse---,I mean take care of them.
Or if they are too old for the adoption mills, they die too!
Problem solved!
If you cannot afford health insurance and get sick or injured?
You Die! Problem solved!
One less person who is uninsured!
Yeah, 'cos obviously Jesus would absolutely HATE the idea of giving medical care to the poor and needy...
And who the fuck is Barackus Muhammed Hussein Osama? Google doesn't seem to have heard of him and he doesn't have a Wikipedia page.
"we all know the demons who run the US government..."
Yes, I've always felt that way about the Bush administration.
"This is how I think it will happen. I'm sure there are already government infiltrators on this board who will now try to refute this."
Nice catch-all for "Anyone who accurately states that I'm a paranoid nutcase is in on the conspiracy!"
DW: Yep. Whatever insurance doesn't pay for comes out of our pockets. That is, assuming you have insurance. If not, then you foot the entire bill. If you're poor and can't afford it... I'm pretty sure they're still required to treat you, but they'll bill your ass into the ground for years after they do until you get it paid off.
Live in a cave then.
DW, health care is pretty much pay-as-you-go here. People who need expensive treatment either go into debt or suffer/die, if they're not rich or lucky enough to receive public charity. (Public = crying for help through the mass media.)
Health insurance is constantly bought and sold between underwriters, so that aspect is confusing, at the very least.
Not until I can have a device to scramble nearby (non-authorized) scanners will I have anything to do with these chips.
EDIT: Maybe this whole Barackus thing is a reference to the A-Team (Mr. T's character), in which case, we need need him in the white house.
I am Canadian, and I love my public health care. Our standards for medicine are extremely high, waiting times are no where near as bad as some people make them out to be (here in Alberta, anyway -- I know that it's a big issue in Quebec which, incidentally, has both public AND private hospitals) and the "see the sickest patients first" policy means that, when it's a life-or-death emergency situation, you're not going to have to wait. We've never been microchipped, the only thing required is that you provide them with your health care number... which is no different than a drivers license or ID when using a vehicle, buying liquor, etc., the banks don't store info about our health care habits, and I'm quite free to do whatever I please without the government objecting... outside the obvious, like killing, stealing, assault, and all that.
Why do Americans assume that their country will somehow be different if they switch to public health care?
First, it would be great if our government WERE in fact setting up universal health care system, but that doesn't seem to be true.
Second, universal health care is far from communism.
Third, I think you're one of the last people who should be complaining about fearmongering and BS. After all, if it weren't for fearmongering and BS, you people wouldn't be able to say a word.
Health care is already a bureaucratic nightmare. It also suffers from insanely high costs due to frivolous lawsuits brought on by people looking to get rich quickly.
Universal health care would help to alleviate both of those issues.
1. The amount of time wasted by sick workers who often come in and spread their disease because they cannot "afford" to take a day off or go see a doctor is phenomenal. The amount of money saved by a socialist system is good.
2. Yes, healthcare for all would ruin your economy... Unless you cut funding from things such as a certain run away military budget. I mean its not like people use hospitals.
3. The verichip system would make patient records easier to find and streamline treatment and increase hospital turnover rate. You would not NEED to implant it into a human, you could just have it as a card. Its like Dog Tags, but high tech.
4. Identity theft is a real problem. I lost nearly 200 pounds after someone posed as me and withdrew giant stacks of money and spent it on a crazy night of wine and song and women.
5. Yeah, cause ID is so eeevvviiilll....
not truly fundie: CTSTDT probably, psychotic, certainly.
I find it worrying that entire swathes of people in the US seem to believe that their government is going to sell them to the devil, or communism, or some such insanity.
Can it be because, while individualism is a good thing, certain people or groups take it to extremes.
I would really be interested in opinions from our US contributors
@Reverend Davidius: Not until I can have a device to scramble nearby (non-authorized) scanners will I have anything to do with these chips.
Two such devices already exist. One is a small patch of aluminum foil, and the other is a foot (if that) or more of air.
@apYrs
I wouldn't say the US government is trying to sell its people into bondage of any sort, except commercialism, but it does have this reputation for unnecessary secrecy and not so legal intelligence gathering. Ergo, it's sort of healthy to have some amount of paranoia whilst living in the US. For instance, current alien registration cards are kind of scary in terms of the information they contain, and they do allow government run facilities to both openly and covertly monitor any foreign nationals on their premises.
@ JESUS PLEASE COME SOON,
I live in Alberta, and I think the wait times are pretty bad. I guess it depends where you are (Calgary is pretty bad). Better than having to pay for it, though.
@practical_god
in the UK we're WAY ahead of you. DNA samples taken and kept if arrested, 28 days detention without trial, more CCTV per head than ANYWHERE, etc etc.
We are learning not to trust them (we didn't have McCarthy), but we're not thinking that even our politicians are minions of Satan
@ Lainey: I live in Calgary too, and wait times for minor things can be bad, but you can cut them down to under an hour if you choose the right hospital to go to. Normally that requires calling ahead, but you only need to bother for minor things anyway, as anything life-threatening gets immediate treatment.
@ FMG (I lost nearly 200 pounds after someone posed as me and withdrew giant stacks of money and spent it on a crazy night of wine and song and women.)
I thought that was an ad for how ID theft helps you lose weight, then I realised you were referring to British currency.
Red scare, mark of the Beast, slippery slope, Obama-Osama, haphazard capitalisation... Who voted this less than 5?
Excuse me, sir, just what language are you speaking? I have never known English to be capable of so much fail in one place.
Also, "Barackus Muhammed Hussein Osama?" Oh, someone thinks he's clever. You get a cheesy poof and a pat on the head.
I did not know that the German* economy was ruined. Despite having socialized healthcare, the only "ruin" comes from the failing American economy atm. Stupid banks which fail at both risk assessment and life, nicht wahr? At least the weak US dollar is very consumer friendly (if you are no American). And it didn't even take socialized healthcare for that. ;)
* in case you don't know (and because it is not mentioned in the Bible at all): Germany is a country of Europe and a member of the European Union. Despite common prejudice our history did not start at 1933 and end at 1945.
I can't believe people are complaining about free healthcare! Of all the crazy-ass things to be upset about.
If you are so anti free healthcare, why is your name SilentKoala? They have free hospitals and maternity care etc. in Australia.
Confused?
