[Upon finding out that his girlfriend was an illegal alien]
I never have considered her a selfish person...she always wants to do what is best for me in other situations I have encountered, but this does seem like a selfish act. I talked with my parents and they are devastated...and want me to immediately break off the relationship( my parents are strong Christians). My parents don't know her very well mainly due to the fact that she is a very private person, but they do hold the fact that her parents are Catholics strongly against her. I'm trying to find a Godly way to approach this situation and I personally think that God brought her into my life for a reason and cant bear to part with her. Any advice would be appreciated.

1. Catholics ARE Christians, you twit.
2. God doesn't exist, so it's all good.
Gotta love the anti-Catholic idiocy, mixed in with thinking that Christianity has anything to say about immigration, "illegal" or otherwise. Seriously, WTF?
I met a girl, had to check out her church
A green one, an orange one, the colours you choose,
Back to my parents for validity
They said it doesnt count man, they don't use KJB
I would recommend you break it off with her and tell her the reason you are doing it--that you and your parents are filthy bigots. It is the best thing for her
Imagine her going through life with such evil people as her husband and in-laws!
Guys, lay off this guy. He's not the bigot here, his parents are. He just wants advice on how to deal with them. Weak-willed, yes, but not a bigot.
Didn't Mary and Joseph get shut out of a bunch of inns before they were finally allowed to settle at one?

@Son of a Nonymous: He did call her "selfish."

It's simple, really:
If she's an illegal immigrant, it means she's Mexican, since all illegal immigrants come from Mexico.
If she's Mexican, it means she's Catholic, since all Mexicans are Cathlolic.
If she's Catholic, it means she's not a Christian, because Jack Chick said that Catholics aren't Christians.
See?
"Any advice would be appreciated."
Elope and get her pregnant. That'll teach your parents. Oh, wait...
A Godly way to approach this situation you say?
1. Marry her. 2. Use the threat of divorce and deportation to keep her in line. Easy way to get a "help meet".
Or if you want a GOOD way to handle the situation, consider step 1, but skip step 2.
If she's an illegal, you owe it to your country to turn her in. Plain and simple. We don't need her kind here. If she really wants to be here, she can do it the legal way. Otherwise, your girlfriend is a criminal.
Oh, I understand that, Tracer. I was just saying it's a legal issue, not a religious one as the person being quoted seems to think.

I once had to choose between my faith, which was dear to me, and my true love, who was equally so.
I chose the dame. If God had a problem with it, He shouldn't have made me fall in love with a wonderful person.
Vaya con amor, Finny. You won't go wrong.
let her stay and ignore your parents, as they are making that incredibly common mistake of confusing "America" with "God". the two are not the same, and the former has nothing on the latter. if you are making the same mistake, I suggest you go to your bible, turn to exodus 20, and read that part about 'no other gods before me' 20 or 30 times.
The parents are clearly fundie, but it sounds like there's actually some hope for this guy.
We can only hope that having his religion get in the way of something tangibly real makes him realise which is really important.
Your parents aren't strong anything other than assholes. Seems like the apple, indeed, does not fall from the tree..at all.
A Christian (you know LIKE Christ) loves everyone, like Jesus did. A Muslim does the same. A Buddhist does the same. A Hindu does the same. A Jew does the same. An atheist does the same. All of us, whatever belief or lack thereof, genuinely care about each other. The relative few who don't are rightly considered to be criminals.
@ The Watcher: You mentioned that Mary and Joseph had to try several inns before they finally found a place to stay that night. The real story in that tale, IMHO is not that there were no rooms at the inn (that's what inns are) it's that not one of the guests of the inn was willing to give up his indoor room to a young couple IN LABOR.
Of course, this is all about you. She chose to do this to you just to make your life more difficult. How selfish of her, not to consider your feelings in the matter.
Fuck you right in the ear, you walking sense of entitlement.
Fuck you too, xander08, you heartless prick. Never been poor, have you?
Apart from his dick parents I'm not sure what's fundie about this. I can see the trust issues behind hiding something like immigration status and why he'd be hurt she wouldn't share a burden like that with him as it might imply she feared he would reject her over it or even betray her coldly which would not sit well with me at all if somebody thought I'd sell them down the river out of sheer vindictiveness. On the flipside she might also have felt that telling him might provoke an emotional response for him to help she might have considered unfairly and unintentionally exploitative.
As for immigration itself I believe there's a procedure for a reason but I'm not inflexible. She should face the music but there are ways he can sponsor her as well. If one of those ways is to invite her to spend their lives together well that's not a conversation any of us are really qualified to butt in on.
Being an illegal alien is a selfish act? I guess I'd have to know more about that person's particular situation before I could agree or disagree there.
But anyway...
