There is no homosexual gene. Let me repeat myself. There is no homosexual gene.
If there were, by simple mathematics, there would be no or very, very few gays remaining.
Think about it. Before the in vitro age, gays would only pass on their gay genes via heterosexual intercourse. So if they only desired their same sex, they wouldn’t have any progeny. So fewer and fewer “born that way” gays would be around. If gays were “born that way”, we would be seeing “gayness” less frequently, not more.
Being gay is a choice, even if it is a choice borne of abuse.

You're an idiot. Let me repeat myself. You're an idiot.
Because: Gay people DO procreate at times, and you don't necessarily have to BE a thing to carry the gene for that thing anyway.
OK, let's say you're right and homosexuality is a choice. How is the preference for a partner of the same sex any different than a preference for blondes, or redheads, or tall or short partners, large or small breasts, or any physical characteristic? More importantly, what business is it of yours unless you're the one being asked out on a date?
Maybe, maybe not, science will tell us more later on. However, I've heard from plenty of people that they were born that way, knew they had those feelings from a young age. Oh, and I'll take their word for it, over some clown from Free Republic.
I repeat: I will take their word over yours.
Besides what everyone else has been saying:
1:
Not all genetic conditions are either/or. See penetrance and expressivity .
2:
Just because someone is not attracted to the other sex does not mean that they can accept it as true (which is what I suspect may be what homophobes actually mean when they talk about "choosing" to be gay) or that they would be free from cultural expectations and/or necessities. So a lot of homosexuals, probably most of them, used to marry someone of the other sex and had children with them - of course, they could not properly love their spouse as a partner, and quite likely were driven to adultery in order to fulfill their actual desires, but we all known that your so-called "Family Values" don't care about anything but the appearence of wholesomeness, anyways. So congratulations, homophobes! Your taboo may have helped homosexuality to proliferate!
The Orange Clown does not exist. Let me repeat myself. The Orange Clown does not exist.
Damn it, he still does! It's almost like saying something doesn't make it true...
You're aware that there are passive genes and traits, that need a pair to manifest, right?
Throughout history, gay people have had to pretend to be straight to not be executed. People like "Queen" James, for example.
Gays are a safety valve against overpopulation and extra caregivers if something happens to parents. It has a definite evolutionary advantage, and as such, "gayness" is just as frequent as it has always been. It's just more out in the open now.
Why would any sane person choose to be vilified, hated, discriminated against, beaten up, raped and possibly killed?
I've heard this sort of argument many times, and I still don't get it. Basically he's saying people aren't born gay, therefore it is a choice. Even if that's true, that people aren't born gay, who says everything that happens to someone after they were born is a choice? Churchy LaFemme compared it to having a preference for blondes or redheads, etc. I don't think something like that is a choice, and I really don't think it's something you're born with, either, though.
What the hell is a "choice borne of abuse", anyway? That makes no sense to me. If he's saying that people are gay because they were abused, that means it's NOT a choice.
And usually the point behind this kind of thing is something like "it's not a choice, therefore I should be able to discriminate against gays"....which doesn't make sense anyway, because we have laws against discrimination based on things like religion, military service, and marital status, which are ALL CHOICES.
Yay!
So, that means lethal genetic conditions are becoming less and less frequent! Right?
I mean, since FamiliarFace has so thoroughly proven that you can ONLY get any specific trait from a parent who exhibits it, anyone who isn't dying from a genetic condition will never, ever, ever, ever watch their kids suffer and die from one!
Unless genes don't think they have to work that way....
Confused?
