Homosexual and heterosexual students should have separate bathrooms and showers in Idaho schools, a Wilder Republican running for the Idaho House said Friday.
...The topic came up after Bayes mentioned it in his campaign literature, where he wrote, “It is absolutely wrong to force any student to share the same bathrooms and showers with homosexual teachers or students.”
...Bayes said that when he was 18 it would have been “an absolute catastrophe” for him to have showered with girls. But he said he wasn’t completely sure how the issue of homosexuals and heterosexuals using the same facilities in schools should be addressed.
“I don’t really have an answer for it, but we’re going to have to do something if there’s going to be a considerable number of our people who are going to go that way (homosexual),” Bayes said. “We’re going to (need) some kind of separation.”

Clearly, this man needs to not be allowed to be in any position of power.
Also, lots of psycho-therapy.
Because as it is now, there's just a slew of cases of gay people raping everyone in their locker room, in a fit of homo fury, driven by their mere proximity to their preferred gender...
Or you know, normal people actually have sexual restraint? How 'bout that?
I'm sure this would be easy to implement. Just get all the students in the school gathered in one place and say "would all those here who are homosexual please raise your hand?" Once the relevant individuals have eagerly identified themselves, you can send them off to their own shower rooms.
I forsee no snags in the plan outlined above.
No. You are not going to need separation. If you have a problem with being oggled while showering, then increase the ability for boys and girls to have privacy while changing and showering. Otherwise, deal with it. I don't think that homosexuals are going to be eye-raping too many of their students or peers, for fear of being lynched by your kind, so I think you'll be fine.
That's a tough one, isn't it? Glad you're tackling the tough, immediate issues though. Not like those fools taking on improving science education, restoring our decaying civil liberties, ending an unpopular and illegal war, funding alternative energy research, promoting ecological stewardship, and repairing our image abroad.

1950's: "Colored and white children should have seprate water fountians and ride seprate sections of the bus!"
Same shite; diffrent decade.
I may have missed this, but what precisely is the problem with this?
Personally, I really wouldn't give a damn if bathrooms and showers weren't even separated between men and women, but that's obviously fringe thought. Division by sex isn't that different from division by sexual preference.
Unless there's more that wasn't included in the quote, he's just talking about showers and bathrooms.
@Moon Wolfhowl
same thought here chum! Most of the cock ogling that I've seen tends to be straight guys comparing (also all of the "play"). Most gays keep their heads down, if they do any checking it's discrete, otherwise it would be dangerous
“It is absolutely wrong to force any student to share the same bathrooms and showers with homosexual teachers or students.”
Am I the only one who thinks this kind of statement ends with "...because all queers are child molesters." in the speaker's head?
Homosexual and heterosexual students should have separate bathrooms and showers...
We should divide the gay and straight showers into Whites and Blacks showers too. That'll learn 'em for wantin' ta be "equal", those filthy child-rapin' sissy queers!
"Would all of the fags please raise your hands? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?"
Come on . Most people, regardless of their sexual preference, have checked out other people of the same sex in a change room -- whether out of curiosity or honest attraction. It's harmless. So long as you do it silently and discreetly, there's no need for embarrassment. Same with any guy checking out a woman on the beach or whatever. Chances are, it's not going to go beyond, "Wow, she's hot," so who cares? Why draw attention to something that doesn't hurt anyone?
The reason that one would segregate homosexuals from the general popualtion in high school showers is becuause some of the showerers might not like to be oggled. If however, they are allowed in the general showers, what further basis exists for segregating the sexes?
A better solution to the problem would be to abolish gymn class (and high school sports with it) and use the hour to teach students Latin.
That's a great idea. And then, we can have separate bathrooms and showers for the black kids, too.
And you can pay for this out of YOUR taxes!
Oh wait, you don't want to pay for it out of your taxes after all? Oh well, let's just forget this half-witted segregation-based bullshit idea, then.
Tell you what, Walt. You keep your uncontrollable urges out of the little boys room and all will be fine.
As for the rest? More people, heterosexual or homosexual, know how to control themselves and are not even remotely attracted to every single member of the sex they prefer. Just as you would repulse me, a heterosexual female, I'd be willing to bet there isn't a single homosexual male that would be turned on by you either.
Get over yourself and get control of yourself.
Heck, I knew a girl who had gone to a college where her dorm had coed bathrooms with group showers -- yet in all her time there, she only happened to share a shower with a guy one time, and nothing of a sexual nature happened. If the college kids want to shower together and have some hanky panky, believe me, they will, and it'll be nigh impossible to prevent; but this doesn't mean that they will automatically want to jump someone of their preferred sex in a shower setting.
I can't believe someone is bothering to make this an issue -- and they ARE making it an issue, because it normally isn't one. At one point in college I discovered that my roommate was bisexual. I spent all of five minutes wondering about such things as whether I should make sure to not get undressed in his presence, then realized how idiotic I was being and treated him no differently from how I had before. I never had a problem with him over that.

These sorts of non-problems wouldn't arise if people would just build individual cubicles, rather than large rooms with shared facilities. Since that's more expensive, however, it looks like most places will remain stuck with communal facilities and the phobic hysteria they tend to trigger on the part of insecure people like this.
I think we should cease to segregate public restrooms by gender. Sure there'd be trouble in the begining, but I think people would get over it, and given a few generations, the fundies would either get used to it, or die out from kidney/rectal explosions from their inablity to share a restroom
I've always wondered about this. I guess the reason guys and gals don't shower together is because of sexual attraction etc. So in that sense, he has a point, I guess.
But really. So what if a queer showers with you?
I take Mr. Bayes was a wuss and never played sports in high school or college or went to scout camp or took PE, otherwise he would have been showering with a bunch of other guys, some of whom were no doubt, GAY! Get a life twerp.
What is that going to accomplish? It's not going to make any difference whether they use the same showers or bathrooms. What, do you think they're just going to grab the nearest guy and fuck him? Jeez. Plus, what about bisexuals and transgenders?
If they make separate bathrooms and showers for homosexual boys, they'd start using them as a place to pick each other up.
Actually, that doesn't sound like such a bad idea....
here, lets clarify this once and for all.
penises go in one room, vaginas go in another.
done.
Segregation. The U.S. and South Africa have been there, done that. In both cases, it didn't work. Besides, it's not as simple to differentiate homosexuals from heterosexuals as it is to differentiate blacks and whites. You can't judge a book by its cover, especially not in this case.
How much do you want to bet that this guy would also claim that women should not be dressed "provocatively" because then they'd be "forcing" guys to rape them? What an ignorant, paranoid fool.
"Bayes said that when he was 18 it would have been “an absolute catastrophe” for him to have showered with girls"
Right, because then he would have shot his load and relieved the pressure on his brain, and possibly not have become a fundie.
This is actually quite sensible.
What would be even more sensible would be for people to get their minds away from sex and stop thinking the whole world is "inappropriate".
I don't really understand why seperate bathrooms is an issue, in the first place, other than that people are too perverse. But, those people should be eliminated. Whatever happened to natural selection, anyway?
On a different note, I do think there should be seperate showers for homesexuals and heterosexuals. That is rather inappropriate.
To make things simpler, space-wise; can't the homosexual males and the heterosexual females shower together, and the homosexual females and the heterosexual males. That way, no-one is showering with people they are attracted to AND have a potential chance with. But, by that logic, all the bisexuals have to shower alone...
There is now, and has always been, homosexuals. They seem to always amount to about 10 percent of the population. Statistically one of every ten students is gay.
(And, if you put your left hand in ice-cold water and the right hand in steaming hot water, you are statistically rather comfortable.)
I can sympathise with this. When I was 18 it would have been an absolute catastrophe for me too to shower with girls -- they would have beaten the crap out of me if I'd ever found a way to sneak in there.
Of course I undoubtedly showered with gays for the greater part of my school years. It's just that I didn't then know it, or they didn't know it, or just as likely none of us actually gave a shit about it in preference to getting clean and dry.
"we’re going to have to do something if there’s going to be a considerable number of our people who are going to go that way (homosexual)"
GOING to go that way? A number of our people have ALWAYS "gone that way", stupid!
Nothing, whatsoever has changed, really, but them being more open about it.
Confused?
