Hang on, how is this fundie/racist? It sounds like a (perfectly reasonable) response someone might give to a WN harping on about all the non-whites in "white countries". Is it not quite true that white Americans imported slaves because they didn't want to harvest crops themselves? Frankly, I'm surprised this is even from a site like Moonbattery.
Or am I missing something?

Really? I've seen this "should have picked our own damn cotton" thing before. She's saying that she wishes slavery never occurred just so she wouldn't have to put up with black people, she's not taking a non-racist position. Hence the whole "White country that is burdened with '"diversity'" thing. If it helps, I've seen racist posts on Moonbattery by this person before. I can damn-well guarantee that she meant this in a racist way.
Plenty of white countries conquered non-white countries and then told the people that lived there that they were just as much citizens of the "home country" as the whites were. So Africans went to live in France, West Indians in Britain and Puerto Ricans in the US. You want colonies, you pay for them.

Part of the reason for importing slaves was a decision made by the farmers: to grow labor-intensive cotton instead of capital-intensive tobacco (The same point can be made about slavery and sugar production in the Caribbean). MissAnthropy's point is that it would be better to have a racially pure society than one where people of different background come to work, for whatever reason. She also forgets that there were other non-white people around who were not suitable for work on the plantations, so their land was grabbed and they were killed and expelled. So, yes, it is racist.

The worse is that there is some truth : employers are looking for the best cost-benefit ratio, & people coming from poorer countries usually fit.
But the way it is said is clearly racist. IMHO, it is more a social thing. People with some level of wealth are less prone to accept any dirty job. I've even seen, in France, Asian-born or maghreb-born bartenders complaining about their children too lazy to follow their path, & prefering more comfortable jobs.
The basis is true : people grown in rich countries will not accept everything, therefore other people will come. Just, focusing on skin color is plain wrong.

The world will always be like that: gaining wealth allows you to be more discerning in your choices, but just because you won't do something, it doesn't mean there aren't other people out there who will do it.
Immigrants have long been favoured for certain professions, but that's nothing to do with them - it has more to do with people assuming that they are above certain jobs.
Skin colour has nothing to do with it. Racists are always making these ridiculously misguided claims. They need a wider viewpoint!
